I'm in need of a pick me up. A new class or experience or challenge, feeling in a rut.

Probably because I'm stuck with a foul cold right now and sorry for myself (I realise this is completely unreasonable)

What's your weekly pick me up moment? What hobby do you really look forward to, I'm open to most things!

I've just organised the office Summer Step Challenge - so now I'll be organising walks and motivating people, which I'll enjoy.

There is an organised one for Diabetes UK which started today and you could join if you fancy it?

?When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.?

― Arthur Conan Doyle

Lots of segregated cycling routes these days...

Who said anything about watching, there's a wild card going now that Muzza has dropped out...new balls siousxiesue!

Sign up for an acting class at City Lit. It's the best therapy there is (not suggesting you need therapy, but you know what I mean).

Join borrowmydoggy.com and find a cute fluffster to take for an occasional walk or snuggle up with on the sofa.

Try a new hair colour? (I just did and it definitely changed my perspective.)

Find someone to play tennis with in the park or try a boxing class (hitting something is a great way of unblocking things if you're feeling stuck).

Failing that, Magnums are ?2 for 3 at Sainsbury's.

I started doing Ceroc (dance) 18 months ago, it's great fun. There isn't a class in the Dulwich area but there are lots of classes all over town - nearest to here is probably Greenwich on Tuesday nights but my favourite is Pimlico on a Monday or Westminster on Wednesday.

You can find detais of all classes on https://www.ceroc.com/ and if you want to get an idea of what it's like then you can watch this short video:

The teacher in this runs the Pimlico and Westminster classes although this was shot at a different venue.

Once you've got a bit of experience under your belt there are plenty of social events, not just afternoon and evening dances but weekends away too. I can go having had a bad day at work and leave in a buoyant mood, it's a great stress reliever.

Photography! There's some nice short courses at the wonderful Mary Ward Centre and I can also highly recommend the Photoshop class run by Mark at the Idea Store in Limehouse, that centre is rumoured to be closing, sadly.

Cycling is my new thing I'll be starting again thanks to flocker spotter, so I may do some writing based on that too.

    • I pass here almost every day and have never seen the local business struggle to load. There's plenty of space as things are.    Seems to me this is just the meddling council being ****heads yet again. These are their reasons: "BAWDALE ROAD Goose Green add a total of 35m new 'DYLs' on both sides south-east of its junction with Lordship Lane (22m on the side of No. 157 Lordship Lane, 3m o/s No. 2 Bawdale Road, and 10m opposite No.2 Bawdale Road) to protect access for large vehicles coming to collect from and deliver goods to the nearby businesses"   Consultation here: https://consultation.appyway.com/southwark/order/1c3a8926-8f51-47e1-8460-2727fec6d895
    • The next Dulwich Hill SNT meeting is on Weds.11th June 2025 5pm at Christ Church Batty Road. Open to all Dulwich Hill Ward residents and businesses. It is realised that 5 pm is not suitable for everyone, but even when held at 7 pm. some people complained that it was children's bath/bed times and wanted it earlier/later. When later times were proposed, there were still complaints- not able to get babysitters/did not want to go out/return home in the dark!. Times are always not going to be convenient for some people. These meetings are held quarterly and are very informal. They give everyone a chance to meet the local team and exchange views/concerns relating to crime/anti social behaviour etc.
