Yes it was good to meet everyone. I've escaped relatively unscathed for some reason . . . Though I did find myself ordering a meatball sandwich in cafe Nero at 9am this morning!

Ps ???? and mr Ben am assuming you were the two gentlemen on the stools next to our table??

A belated greeting to everyone. It was great to meet so many fabulous EDF Mums last week and I do think I volunteered to help organise the next one (er, could have been half of the bottle of red wine I shared with Yak, how did we go through a whole bottle????).

Is anyone up for a November meet? Think someone might have also suggested December. I'm not in town this December, so happy to find a suitable venue and book November or will pick up the first FR drinks of 2012 as an alternative (positive forward thinking that we will continue to meet in the New Year).

Happy Halloween!

OK, so sounds like we've narrowed it down to either Wednesday, November 16th or 23rd then (before the 25th, not Monday or Tuesday, and a different night than Thursday). I personally can't do the 23rd, but appreciate the 16th is very short notice. Happy to book space somewhere however for either night and if the 23rd, I'll catch up with you in January!

How does the East Dulwich Tavern suit everyone? Or is there an alternative local in mind?

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
