I wouldn't bother as for the majority of the day, it requires a change at Canary Wharf for the Stratford service.

Was at Westfield Stratford for the second time today. As others have mentioned, the Overground from FH/HOP is the quickest way from ED to get there on public transport and only ?1.30 (?1.40 peak) single on Oyster.

Oh, I know it's not a big deal to get there. I just find it hard to believe that a bus to FH followed by Overground is quicker than just getting on the train to London Bridge.

But then, I know that a lot of ED is not very close to ED station, either. Each to their own, I guess.

Afraid I can't help you with that. Is that still in London? Sounds ghastly! :-S

By the way folks, I believe good old Mary Portas' company 'Yellow Door'did a lot of work on Westfield at Shepherds Bush.

You know her; the one on TV showing us all how to look after and rejuvenate small local shops that are sooo important to the community! A world away from that hell hole in west London.

Cheers.

Actually there are plenty of excellent gift options in SE15 without resorting to these cliches.

You could buy some lovely handcrafted gifts including chess sets from Persepolis or even buy one of the shop owner's excellent cook books and get it personally signed.

Or you could visit Review Bookshop which often has signed first editions, along with a quirky selection of gifts.

Or if you have a sweet tooth, how about handmade chocolate at the Melange chocolate shop - you could even buy a gift voucher for a place on a chocolate making workshop.

Or you could pop into The Nuns Head this Saturday where they are having lots of local craftspeople and traders selling their wares all day with lots of gift buying opportunities.

    • Because the previous Libdem/Tory coalition council did so much better? ....Oh wait. Selling off the Heygate at a bargain price and reducing the number of council homes it replaced? Being in opposition is so much easier isn't it James.  The point on allowances etc is a valid one, and that is about finding the right balance between the responsibility of those cabinet roles and the role of service that should underpin all political aspirations in an ideal world. Holding down a full time job, while having to attend meetings and then deal with case work on top, is a huge ask imo. People in key roles need to have the time needed to do those roles effectively, so some renumeration makes sense. It's just a question of where the balance should be. McAsh has walked away from that, so his convictions are doing more talking than careerism arguably.  Worth pointing out that most MPs started out as party/ political activists/ campaigners on a local level. Different parties have different processes for selecting candidates, but everyone starts out at a low level.
    • I think the Galleon on Dunstans Road beats that. been work in process for 5+ years.
    • Cleaning in East Dulwich and the surrounding areas for well over a decade, we've worked hard to always provide great cleaning and reliable cleaners. We pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality cleaning service and making sure the cleaners turn up when you need and want them to. Our growth has mainly been by recommendations on the Forum, local Facebook pages and clients recommending us to their neighbours on street WhatsApp groups. We know it can be hard to trust someone to come into your home, many times when you're not there, so we only use cleaners that we know and have been checked, trained and are happy to be supervised by us. Accidents can happen so we're fully insured to cover any and all situations that may arise. On top of cleaning we can do additional tasks such as managing washing, ironing, bed changes and oven cleans. Plus working with local partners we can arrange window cleaning and carpet cleans for you. So if you want to come home to a clean and tidy place, with the floors cleaned, surfaces dusted, cobwebs removed, dishes washed, cushions plumped, clothes folded, beds made, and the bathroom gleaming, get in touch today! • Hardly! The awning is half hanging off and it looks like it's about to collapse between the two upstairs windows. Looks awful and it's not clear there is construction "going on" there now.
