5imon
used to do this all the time.40 bus takes 45 mins, but you get a seat and don't have to think about anything till you arrive.get a good book out and enjoy the commute.alternative is forest hill overground to shoreditch Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20352-east-d-to-liverpool-street/#findComment-496445 Share on other sites
peckhamboy
Train to London Bridge and then bus (48 or 149) from LB to Liverpool Street station. The bus normally takes between 15 and 20 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.Edited to add: obviously it depends where in ED you're starting from. 5imon's routes are both good alternatives, although the 40 might take longer than that in rush hour? KidKruger
40 Bus goes to Aldgate, not Liverpool St. Aldgate is 7 min walk from LS.Train to LB then either:149, 42 or 35 bus to LS or walk up to LSIf you're getting the bus, it may be quicker to walk to South side of London Bridge itself and wait for your bus at the bus stop just before the river (outside Barrow Boy and Banker bar). The buses (ie. 149) leaving LB station get caught in shocking traffic trying to navigate the junction out to the bridge, esp in rush hour. KidKruger
The 78 (and 42) encounter shocking waits on a morning to cross Tower Bridge and afterwards, before passing through Aldgate. the-e-dealer
But Journey Planner only tells you the theoretical times. WE are getting real experiences here. Also Journey planner can come up with some very strange routes and isn't aware of how close some Underground Stations are to Over Ground Stations.Anyone know a good night out - Why not google it instead of using this community website. Anyone recommend a good Osteopath- Why not google it instead FFS! (google that!) the-e-dealer
And try the Journey planner and look at some of the stupid routes it suggests - It doesn't even mention the 78. Do some research before putting down fellow forumites PLEASE! dukesdenver
The 40 is great if you want the Bishopsgate/Spitalfields side of Liverpool Street. Get off at St Botolph Street and then it's a short stroll up Middlesex Street. Jeremy
Just get the train. The walk from London Bridge is 20 mins max.Might be worth hopping on a bus at London Bridge if it's outside of rush hour and the queue isn't too bad. Or it's raining.
