Anybody get any recommendations for a good Indian restaurant in central London? Doesnt have to be expensive or posh - but it must be halal as the person whose birthday we are celebrating is Muslim.

Brick Lane has been mooted, but my experience in Brick Lane has been rather disappointing.

Ta.

Namaste.

Went to Cafe Lazeez not so long back (the one in Kensington - although there is one in Soho as well) and can definitely recommend it. Not cheap by 'curry house' standards but then the food is something quite different. If you're one for complaining if a 'curry' costs you more than a tenner (some people are) then it's not for you!

Brick Lane is to be avoided at all costs, unless you like (mostly) identikit curries for tourists and having your arm pulled every time you pass the door of each restaurant. That said, there is a MIRCH MASALA on Commercial Road, where the food will be fabulous and the bill will be small!

Best Indian Restaurent I've been to in Central london is RASA in charlotte street. Vegetarian and fish instead of Halal but should be ok? Anyway best tasting food I have had. Traditional Kerala food. Sat at the table salivating and trying to decide what to eat for 30 minutes...Staff lovely and mid range pricing. 5 hungry people with starters, main, two bottles of good red and dessert ?160.

    • In part, it’s largely down to people not actually caring about anyone or anything else apart from their own gratification (btw, there are better ways to get a dopamine fix)
    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.

    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
