*Bob*
Hey, you.. yes, you. You've already seen this commercial at home, several times. Was it funny? No. Is it any funnier now? No. Then why are you laughing like a deranged horse? Moos
I laugh ostentatiously at all sorts of things, why not? Otherwise people might be thinking about something else. Annette Curtain
Well...I think something happens to people in cinemas. We went to see the Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona & Woody's a humorous guy, right? So, at one particularly funny scene ( I know it's subjective ) my other half burst out laughing. The woman behind , all vintaged up, red beret, leant across & prodded my beloved on the shoulder & through her MASSIVE horse like teeth ( all surrounded with a shock of red lipstick )She hissed "SSSSHhhhhhHsSSSHHH....HH"Which made the whole thing even funnier ( btw other people also laughed )That wasn't you was it *Bob* ?NETTE:-S*Mind you it was at the Ritzy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20438-do-you-laugh-ostentatiously-at-cinema-commercials/#findComment-498026 Share on other sites

womanofdulwich
I did start laughing out loud at the latest BA ad at the cinema recently - all men pilots- and all white- it was ok with the historic scenes- but when they panned to the current day and it was still all white male pilots and young beautiful air stewardesses I felt a bit embarrassed as they were serious. ::o Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20438-do-you-laugh-ostentatiously-at-cinema-commercials/#findComment-498035 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Annette Curtain Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> That wasn't you was it *Bob* ?I've only been to the cinema once whilst in drag - and that was some time ago - so it couldn't have been me.Maybe the conditioned air is infused with some sort of hysterical idiot-juice, so that the dismal Lynx commercial which you usually fast-forward through when at home becomes a work of sublime comedic genius, causing your and your moviegoing partner to spontaneously clutch each other's arms and emit ridiculous, honking guffaws. MrBen
The Peal & Dean ad (yes....still running) makes me smile. But only for the nostalgia and the heady mix of old tobacco, chocolate raisins and popcorn that was the Edinburgh Dominion circa 1983.However, my other half has a funny sounding cinema laugh (a kind of continuous monotone "Haaaaaaaa") and furthermore, she laughs at parts of a film which are not funny to anyone else. This produces a brilliant sonic call and response effect whereby something not funny makes her laugh ("Haaaaaaaa.") which makes every one else laugh louder. Come down the Ritzy this sunday and experience it for yourself. Annette Curtain
Mind youI'd rather be hissed/laughed/prodded at in The Ritzy than my 'never again' experience at the i-max in Greenwich. Some people were texting and phoning each other whilst talking and generally having a party, as you do.One irate man-mountain of a parent decided to up the ante by going over and LOUDLY berating a crowd of chavs young people. For a moment I actually thought i'd come to the theatre not the cinema. I've had a simular experience in Wimbledon.Must be all the sweets & pop drinks they consume.( I'm more down with the wine hysteria me )Really though, why cant we have plug-in head phone sockets at the cinemas as an optional extra ?NETTE:-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20438-do-you-laugh-ostentatiously-at-cinema-commercials/#findComment-498096 Share on other sites

David A
Nette: I've had the misfortune to be in the Ritzy with the self-same red-bereted idiot sitting behind me. She seemed to think that she was the only one who got the 'We're not posh, we're "Arts and Crafts" line in 'Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll".I've got to warn you, she seems to have the 'Season Ticket', as I had to put up with her translating (badly) both parts of 'Mesrine' in the Clapham Picture House a few weeks later.Near enough 5 hours of franglais from 'la chaval avec le chapeau rouge'.Frankly, les bolloques. David A
I fear she may be a 'serial cinamista'. She's 'une twot' I know that.I just hope she doesn't find out about the mini-cinema in the Clockhouse. I don't fancy the idea of her ruining my afternoon pint by honking along to one of their Disney Club presentations.'Zut alors' indeed et 'le singe est dans l'arbre' peut-etre. Ted Max
People who have not erected an impenetrable wall of ironic detachment and still strive for some semblance of collective experience piss me right off.Anyway, WTF are you going the cinema for, *Bob*, you massive bellend? Ted Max
Thanks for that *Bob* - I'm having a Cinz right now, as it goes. No ice, Jif instead of lemon. New slippers, though. My mum used to LOL at the funny bits in Shakespeare, and join in that whinny concert audiences do when a "light" piece ends on a note of whimsical musical humour. The stupid cow. womanofdulwich
Woman pilots a couple of times. Pilots who are not white men - at leat 50% of the time - but then I've only flown BA a few times- maybe thats their employment policy?
