Hey, i'm 39 weeks today (although by dates 39 + 5) with no.2 - woke up feeling nauseous and have vomited since, also had diarrhoea (sorry for that). Braxton Hicks have become slightly stronger and more frequent over last 2 days. Have rung Kings and they say i just have to wait it out - could be tummy bug, could be that labour will soon start. Just sitting here waiting now, so thought i'd see if anyone had any personal experiences to share to keep me distracted/entertained....
I had really bad vomitting/ nausea in the first trimester and I was being sick during the pushing stage of labour sorry for the detail! Hormones are funny old things, id say if things get bad keep in touch with the midwives or a doctor. Try and drink lots of water if you can especially if you have diarrhoea

As above was very sick in pushing stage and also just after delivery. Prob due to all the drugs though. No significant vomming in pre labour.

I am 24 weeks preg and was in kings 2 weeks ago with vomitting virus. 4 other women were admitted same day with vomitting so theory was there is a bit of a bug going around at mo that prego women are susceptable to. It passed in 24 hours but defo see gp if gets severe.....

Back end issues can certainly kick off labour (hence the use of caster oil etc for some). Just make sure you're not getting dehydrated. And there is certainly a bug going around - my daughter got it 3am this morning, and I'm starting to feel a little peeky. It's that time of year sadly.

Good luck with the birth, whenever it happens!

I was sick pretty much immediately labour started, unfortunately it continued during labour right up until i had an epidural. I was then sick afterwards (c section).. But that was a reaction to the drugs. I second the anti sickness drug, although second time round (elective c section) I needed a huge dose :( was sick every half hour for about 6 hours. It's a common reaction to anaesthetic apparently.
Thank you for all your comments/tips. Just thought i'd update you - the "braxton hicks" got to every 5 mins - i went into kings and they confirmed i had a bug and it was irritating the uterus, so after a couple of hours of thinking this was it we felt a little frustrated. IV drip overnight stopped everything in its track. However, here we are on Thursday, back at home with a lovely little girl, so regardless of the bug it was time. Hooray xxx

    • I'm trying to be civil, see things from different perspectives and avoid arguments. The grey economy is cash in hand, so no tax to be paid, Chancellor loses out, we all win. Zero hrs contracts must be tough not knowing where or when the next work is coming from.  My position might not be great, but with a bit of sensible weekly shopping, stocking up on best buys etc. one survives and life ain't that bad.
    • I'm trying to find a venue for my daughter's 18th but it's really difficult. Most venues don't want 18th birthday parties. We were looking at Brockwell Hall (The newly refurbed big ol' house in the park) but they want 4.5k for a night which has to finish at 11pm. My daughter tells me her friends don't go out till 11 which I think may be an exageration but I get her point. I'm looking for a bar/club type venue where I can have a DJ till 1/2am and that's about it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    • “Fair points, not arguing with you on them” This outbreak of civility between us is beginning to worry me ! im approaching pension age soon enough myself and im sorry to hear your position isn’t great.  But current pensions are not the result of  any 1 year government (they literally couldn’t be) but decades of priorities across multiple govts and voter priorities  21k won’t get your fat these days as a worker. Transport and other costs before they even get to accommodation. And they will work hard for that then you have the grey economy and zero hour contracts where people earn far less than that  again - your position doesn’t sound great but that’s no reason to deny a new generation  Me and jazzer at next forum drinks  https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/mar/28/dining-across-the-divide-i-see-the-welfare-state-as-bloated-corrupt
