Just wondering if anyone might have seen my 87 year old mother today. She has alzheimers and went missing from her care home in Barry Road at about 3am this morning. She is 5' tall with white hair, wearing a light blue blouse, navy cardigan and black trousers. Police and bus drivers looking for her but no luck so far.

Many thanks

Marianne

Thanks so much for your kind messages - much appreciated. I am happy to say that she has just been found in Kilburn (!) and is confused but ok and on her way home. The police have been absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for your kind messages - she doesn't remember where she used to live (Westminster Bridge Road) but the police and members of the family have been driving around the area all day. She has no money and no coat and must be totally confused - I just don't understand why somebody hasn't checked to see if she is ok. Anyway, must remain hopeful, the police have been marvellous.

Once again, thanks to you and GSJ57 for your good wishes.

You really are lovely people on this thread - so caring! We now know that she got a 12 to Oxford Circus - a bus driver recalled seeing her at 5am - you would think he could have asked her if she was ok as she had no coat and was wearing slippers .... after that, she must have got on a bus at random as she has no connections with Kilburn. She has an old Freedom Pass which expired in 2006 but no photo to go with it so I can only presume that the drivers were not too fussy. We don't know what she did all day but she ended up in a Turkish cafe where they very kindly fed and watered her and called the police. I intend to thank those lovely people too!

Otta, all the doors are alarmed except one fire escape door (she would have had to walk through a long corridor and the kitchen in pitch darkness to get to it) and as she is normally very well looked after I can't be too angry with them - these things happen occasionally - I'm just grateful there was a happy ending to this very long day ...

Once again, many thanks for all your support (I got quite a few PMs too).

Best wishes

Marianne x

Oh thank goodness .

And thank goodness for the kind sensible Turkish cafe people .

The care home must be beside themselves - if it's the one I think it is ,they are really excellent and caring .

I bet arrangements for that fire exit to be alarmed will be in hand sharpish .

    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
    • Oh dear, hope you are OK, I've had it three times and it was worse each time, but not a patch on many of those who got it before they vac' role out. Not commenting on the discussion as I got confused many days ago beyond the reminder that Corbyn would not compromise and the harm that could lead to him, the party and regards Brexit pre and post referendum the country.  Starmer goes too far the other way at times.
    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
