How do you get the red "new" to come up on new threads ...?

Recommended Posts

OK, I've turned off the message count just to try something out. Please let me know if:

a) that's annoying

b) the forum's got a bit faster

c) you would mind if it didn't return

Every time you look at the number of new messages, the system has to count how many message you haven't read and that slows things down especially when there's lots of people on the site. It still leaves "new" next to messages that you haven't read, and you can still click on "new" to go directly to the first of the newest messages. Let me know.

I can confirm from my tests on a Mac that Firefox 2.0.012 shows the red 'new' markers and Safari does not..Opera and Camino web browsers also fail to show the 'new' tags on the Mac.

The html gets passed differently in the two browsers:

In firefox:

span class="PhorumNewFlag">new

In Safari, Opera and Camino:

span class="PhorumNewFlag">

I'm on OSX version 10.4.11

Ive tried both logged out and in and get the same results.
