I was planning my journey to Gatwick for later today when I was surprised to discover that there are now direct trains from Peckham rye to east Croydon. The thing is these only appear to be on a Sunday.

Does anyone know if this is a permanent thing, or likely to be expanded to during the week as well?

You can get a direct train to East Croydon from Forest Hill (or Honor Oak Park), that is what I normally do if going to Gatwick.

From London Bridge or ED you will have to catch the train to London Bridge or Victoria. There is also a direct trian from Tulse Hill to Gatwick but only once a day, so could be risky if cancelled/delayed.

Mini cab is around ?40.

You still can.

Or at least, unless my OH and I were both dreaming, we made a return trip to East Croydon from South Bermondsey last night, and the train passed through East Dulwich on both the outward and return journeys.

The trains run every half hour on a Sunday night.

And extremely useful we found them too :)

I've taken a direct train from East Croydon to east Dulwich in the last month, but it's definitely an occasional service compared to a few years back when there was a big sign on the ED railway bridge advertising "Ed to London Bridge 11 minutes, ED to East Croydon 22 mins"

They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
