Hi all

A friend of mine who lives in ED has a 6 week old baby. She is keen to know about any daytime stuff that she can attend with the baby. I don't have any kids so am of no help!

I think she is getting cabin fever and is keen to get out and about soon!

Any suggestions, along with details of the days and times things run, would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

The baby is probably a bit young for structured classes like baby sensory but there is still lots to do. I enjoyed going to bumps and babes - basically a coffee morning at St faith's in north dulwich. It's on Fridays at 9.30 to 11.30 from memory. If she's keen to get active she could try power pramming in either dulwich park or Peckham rye. A great way to get the baby to sleep. You don't mention if she knows many other new mums round here but I can also remember spending a lot of my time in the pub around that age with my antenatal group- the babies slept and had the odd feed whilst we drank hot chocolate and compared horror stories. Am sure there'll be lots more suggestions coming as it's a very baby friendly area!

There is also Mum and Baby cinema closer to ED, at the Peckham Plex across from Peckham Rye station. Thursdays at 11:30.

    • So important to give them the best chance. You can buy bells on Amazon I’ve bought the cheap collars on amazon and find they fray quickly and aren’t great quality. The bells don’t really make a noise either. I’ve also bought a posh one from Pets Couture and it’s absolutely beautiful, got a proper bell and still looks like new after nearly a whole year! Definitely worth the money
    • I completely agree. A cat with a bell comes into my garden and sits patiently beneath the bird feeders. Sometimes I hear the bell first and can chase him out before he gets there, and hopefully birds can also hear the bell (but only when he's actually moving). This has got worse since prickly rambling rose stems were removed from fences at the back of the garden. I'm looking at what cat deterrents I can put there. You have probably done this already, but if not you might want to look at ways you can try to stop the cats getting into your garden  in the first place? It's very difficult. I love both cats and birds, but  as you say, cats will be cats.

    • Hi all, Our kitten Linda hasn't come home this morning and we’re v worried about her. She’s only 8 months old and not used to going far/going out on the road.  Please look out for her in the Barry Road/Upland Road area, and message or call if you think you’ve seen her - 07758 300 621.  Thank you! 🙏🏻
