Last year I was rubbish, and didn't get the tree until xmas eve. I ended up with a 7ft+ monster (I had to cut a bit off the top to stand it in the living room), for which I paid ?25.

I appreciate the price had probably dropped for clearing before xmas day.

However, I just enquired of the same people how much for a nice looking 5-6ft tree, and had to really make an effort to keep my mouth closed when she said "?50 for that one love"!

Is this going rate?!

If I do buy a fake tree, I might actually opt for a nice one.

I'm just weird like that.

How are we supposed to judge whether supply and demand, and effective competition is working?

They were totally unhelpful outside the Forest Hill Tavern tonight so not a good start or bech mark.

But with so many outlets selling them surely we can shop around and get a deal.

And with the recession (OK East Dulwich is immune to such things) demand, and hence price, should come down.

Also interested how many of these outlets are legit!

Last year we got one from Homebase (aka Argos) - it was the worst for years dropping all its needles by Xmas.

?25 at the Forest Hill Road Supermarket, smallish, may see if I can get a bargain. They are also open on Xmas day, I like thi spalce

Get a set of dumbbells and maybe a resistance band, find a HIIT channel you like on youtube and workout in your room, eat clean and go out every day. £115/mo is ridiculous. I thought they were supposed to be about £20 to £30 and most people give up come February anyway.
    • Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
    • Tawny owls are hooting in Dawsons Heights very near me. But very elusive birds. Sadly now on the amber list.  I have heard the owls every night for the past couple of weeks  It is good to know they are here. They are quite loud so I think they are very near. I have never seen an owl in the wild before and wish I  could  see them.
