ice grips for shoes

I keep seeing adverts in the papers for these- you wear them over your shoes. Has anyone bought them/ recomemnd them?

We bought some for the parents in law - YakTrax. They like them.

Hey, Yak Trax ain't just for oldies. They stop you falling on your arse and mean you can wear your normal shoes and not have to resort to some kind of ugly moon boot just because it's snowing.

I love them, wouldn't be without them in winter.

And I'd recommend getting them while it's not icy / snowy, because everywhere sells out the second it snows.

You can get them in the outdoor shops - Snow & Rock, North Face, Ellis Brigham (got mine in Ellis Brigham).

If you hit Covent Garden, there are about 5 shops in a concentrated area that might yield results.

Funnily enough I just ordered a pair of YakTrax today!

not sure where the most local outdoor shop would be from here, are there any in Camberwell/Brixton? There's a Blacks in Victoria. High Street Kensington has about 3 outdoor shops back on the same row from what I remember. Covent garden probably best though :-)

There's an outdoor shop in Forest Hill, just behind the station. Full of ski stuff at the moment, don't know whether they stock Yaktrax, you'd need to give them a ring.

Have had Yaktrax for a few years now - vital for making my way down the steep hill to the station from C Palace in ice/snow. Highly recommended.

Got some today in clas ohlsen in croydon instead of the spikes they have ceramic plates which means you don't have to take them off going into shops, thought they would be better for parents less bending,they also have the ones with spikes

They were ?12.95 called sandy grips, don't think you want to be doing too much walking on laminate floors in them but would be fine for just coming in and out, got some for myself too,they also have them on amazon
