Just quoting this in case the post is deleted.

And surprise surprise the post has now been deleted.

But hey, you can still read it above, in case you would like to work for free to help someone else make a profit.

There was such goodwill from posters up to then, too.

ETA: Not inclined to be a customer now. Sorry. Several similar sweet shops in town who hopefully pay the people working for them.

What is wrong with this forum? It never takes long for the tone to change and for people to get the knives out.

It's a sweet shop - something which doesn't currently exist on the lane. I hope it does really well (and suspect it will).

Sorry to be a pedant... but wine gums are not wine flavoured. They're fruit flavoured... they just happen to have names of wines on the sweets.

There was a lot of goodwill initially, as you can see from the thread.

The tone changed because of a number of posts by the prospective owner of the sweet shop which she has now deleted.

She wanted (and possibly still does) people to "volunteer" aka work for her for free whilst she was getting her business set up (a business in which she is presumably hoping to make a profit).

I don't think objecting to that can be described as "getting the knives out".

So your post on here asking for volunteers ("I'm on the lookout for local volunteers (initially).. who would be willing to give up some spare time during the week"), and your first PM to me, were giving inaccurate information which you are now correcting?

Or did you change your requirements when you realised from the content and tone of the comments on here that asking people to work for your business for free wasn't going down too well with prospective customers?

I'd be more inclined to be positive and supportive if you had kept on view all the posts which you have now deleted, but admitted that you had made an error of judgement which you were sorry for (assuming that that's true).

    • I would recommend the Dulwich Test and Service centre that used to be in Hindemanns road and then moved to the little Trading Estate off Tyrrel Road. I've used them very happily for nearly 40 years. Paul and Reg Shires.
    • Such a shame as Dells is fantastic - a decent local business providing a great service to residents.
    • Ha ha that's hilarious - how wonderfully embarrassing for Reform!
