Hi Rani

We have had two holidays in europe that we loved.

One was in italy, very near florence (Montevarchi) .... stayed on a lovely farm in little self catering cottages. They had a big pool (all salt water) on the property and we had loads of fun. Loads of fruit trees, vegetables, grapes, chickens. The owner would leave bowls of fresh fruit and veg outside on our patio. There was lots to do and although we could catch the train etc to Florence, we didnt do that many trips as it was so hot! Went in July. However the farm was beautiful, we were so relaxed, and would go for beautiful drives in the afternoon (aircon on, daughter having a nap)

The other holiday was in portugal, (Verdemar) same type of thing, stayed in a place with lots of little seperate bungalows, in big grounds - however this time we ate / had meals cooked for us ... also beautiful, would drive to beach every morning, and then spend most afternoons around the pool. Dinner was a highlight as would sit with about 10 - 12 other adults, wine would flow and lots of laughs.

Both holidays were extremely family friendly...... (plus quite easy flights over ....) If you click on the links, the pictures will do more justice than my attempts to describe the beauty of both places .....

    • We did fine for 300 years with the Royal Mail before the current "competitive" shambles was introduced. Now we have multiple companies with multiple vehicles making deliveries to the same streets every day, none of the workers are employees with decent working conditions or any job security, and consumers have to deal with x different distribution networks and apps and platforms and drop-off points... https://postandparcel.info/12422/news/uk-royal-mails-monopoly-to-end-on-1-january-2006/
    • That's certainly the narrative that runs ad infinitum on the Forum but I wonder how true it is. Speaking for myself I'm very happy M&S, Superdrug, Pret and, in the last century, Sainsbury's arrived and judging from the business they do I'm not alone.
    • There are Christmas lights?! Or a, I missing something?
    • Though it's often the big corporates who dig deepest. For small independents that's a bigger ask, decorating, when they do their own premises is cost enough. And we're normally happy not to have the big corporates in LL.
