Hello ED Forum.

Looking for some info. as I've found myself in a slightly annoying situation. Purchased a new Henry the Hoover on eBay, but it's arrived and it's got a yellow industrial plug as opposed to the standard UK domestic one. attached is a snap if need be.

Does anyone know if there are adaptors which will allow this to be used in a household? The alternative is that I return it, and write an angry email to the vendor for not making this obvious.

Thanks in advance to anyone that may have any knowledge around this. I wasn't sure where else to turn.

The Henry that you have purchased runs on 110 volts as used on building sites.

You would need a step down transformer in order for it to be used with 240 volt mains.

The transformers are heavy. I would change to the 240 volt Henry for domestic use.

Did the Ebay listing state that it was 110 volt?

No, it's an entirely different voltage which has to be run through a large transformer. Simply plugging a 110v appliance into a 240v socket would definitely wreck the appliance, probably start a fire, and possibly electrocute anyone holding the appliance!

Also, where did you sign up for this summary email? Is it definitely coming from this forum, as I can't see it mentioned anywhere?
    • I'm a bit confused. You posted less than half an hour ago (as I type) but at the bottom of your post on what seems to be a screenshot dated yesterday evening  it says you found it? If you haven't, can you not contact the charity shop directly in case they still have it?
