New Iceland store Rye Lane, Peckham.

Just a heads up for anyone interested. The Peckham Iceland store has a new home in part of the old Woolworth?s store in Rye Lane. A much bigger location, and way bigger than the old store next to the station arches.

Good news, the old location was rubbish for such a busy store.

Walked past the new Iceland store yesterday but forgot to see what's happened to the old one. Is it just closed up or going to be anything new?

I expect as part of the station development to fully open up the square frontage, it is likely to be demolished.

What a shame, but at least Iceland wanted to stay in Rye Lane. Not like when they sold out their store in Lordship Lane to M&S a couple of years ago.

I think the new store is a great improvement and means no longer having to go to the Old Kent Road one for their bigger range. Hopefully all the existing staff have moved to the new store too.

Good news both for the store itself and its shoppers and staff and for the fact that hopefully work will begin soon to drag PR station into the 21st century (whilst retaining its late 19th century details, of course!). It is like Quatermass there and could be so much more inviting and attractive for everyone - trees, anyone?

For those interested, the Iceland No Bull burgers are (in my opinion and that of many others, including meat eaters, to whom I've served them) the best vegan offering out there at the moment.

Might be worth asking the store to consider if they don't stock, they were very helpful when I asked why they didn't stock the No Bull range in my father's nearest store.
