Leaving town via the M4...no go?

...is the flyover still half shut and therefore is it a no-go, even during the day?!

'Scuse the ignorance but haven't driven out west for a while and due to do so on Thurs (to Reading) - and would usually go that way.

Tips welcome re best route as, knowing me, it's probably not the cleverest route at the best of times.

Hello Follow the south circular (A205) all the way to to the Chiswick roundabout pick up the M4 from there avoiding Hammersmith flyover altogether!

I had to go via the M4 and Hammersmith flyover last week.

Flyover is now open for cars, one lane only each direction.

I had no problems.

Its half term for a lot of schools so the traffic is much better than usual too.

On the way back don't queue for the flyover - head to the left hand lane and detour through Hammersmith. Much faster.

The Fulham Palace Road is one big jam leading to it even when it is working properly, so don't go that way either. I'd agree with the above from right-clicking.

I went over the Fly-over OK, daytime, not rush-hour. No tail backs to speak of.

I do this most days... hit and miss most days, peak hours though should be avoided, head through wandsworth and join M4 after Sheen.
