katgod
Why are there so many British Gas vans parked outside the sorting office in the morning? Are gas men moonlighting as postmen or vice versa? Or is Pellat Road some sort of base camp before gas men go out to repair boilers? Not the most obvious place. Just curious as to what it is all about - and I wish the gas men would not sit in their vans with engines running while they wait for their instructions. All thoughts on this welcome!Merry Christmas Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2208-pellat-road-sorting-office-and-british-gas/ Share on other sites
macroban
To do with the Lordship Lane gas main replacement? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2208-pellat-road-sorting-office-and-british-gas/#findComment-63748 Share on other sites
katgod
been going on at least 3 years. look more like internal engineers than road diggers I think. But it could be that. macroban
> look more like internal engineers than road diggers I think.I think the residents are getting new gas meters at the same time, and that the re-switching-on of appliances is being done by gas people. mattham
Don't know but I wish they'd drive more carefully. Bloody post office vans hammer it down the road as if it were silverstone. Does this bother any other residents? Wouldn't be so bad if they could actually deliver the post on time. macroban
> Wouldn't be so bad if they could actually deliver the post on time.I understand that there is now no "time" for a domestic delivery and so the post can no longer be delivered "late".So really there is nothing to complain about. alieh
Mattham,Very much with you on the crazy driving of the postal vans on Pellatt. Now how about the fact that they also often drive up to the sorting station at 4:30 AM, open both doors of the massive truck, put the radio on at full blast, and shout back and forth to each other (with liberal use of expletives) on the sidewalk?Haven't heard this for a couple of weeks, mind, but it has woken us up countless times in the last year!Alieh Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2208-pellat-road-sorting-office-and-british-gas/#findComment-63927 Share on other sites
Fuschia
British Gas has parts sent to its engineers via the sorting office, they wait there to get the stuff for their day's jobs. Fuschia
Perhaps they just have a deal to park there. Are they empty vans, first thing?
