Hi I am in my 40's and have found myself unfit and unhealthy, time to sort it out! We all know what we should and shouldn't eat but I struggle with motivation and support. I don't want to join an online support group as sitting in front of the laptop trying to maintain motivation doesn't seem to work. Is there anyone in the area who would like to get motivated and excersise without having to find the cash for personal training . Let me know if you're interested.

There is loads of free fitness activities on the what's on in East Dulwich.

You don't need someone else to get you out of the house, JFDI. If you rely on other people if they lose motivation then so will you.

We are blessed with nice parks round here. Walk, Jog, Cycle get your heart pumping. You only need to make the change for a couple of weeks then you'll see the benefits.

Hello Hilili - as paragon says - look in the What's On Section of the forum...

In particular, look for the FREE! Fitness in the Park Saturdays thread. We meet at 10am on Saturdays at the cafe in Peckham Rye, it's a real mix of ages and abilities, we do a circuit of the park but with lots of stopping for different things - it's not non-stop running. It's really good fun and very encouraging. Then we all have a coffee afterwards.

And it's completely free - come along!

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
