Dead rat found in garden

Have seen a couple of Live rats in my garden in the last couple of months.

Found a Dead Rat in the garden this morning. with 100's of maggots.

Was going to leave the maggots to do their thing but did not want 100's of Flies getting into the house.

I have poured lots of bleach on the corpse but need advice as to what to do with it.

Can a dead rat be double bagged and put in the green Bin. ??

The Council collected a dead fox from a neighbour's garden, not sure how they view rats though, perhaps give them a call?...

The appropriate action all depends on the religion. I don?t know what religion would go in for bleach and the green bin though? Was it own-brand bleach from the Co-op? At least they?re in the right line of business.

For future ref, most of us are ratafarian. We like to wait until everyone?s peckish, then we roll a fat one and gather round the deceased. Not when she?s been bleached like a 1980?s mullet though! What a waste of good maggots!

They were 'miniscule' Silver coloured not the type you could use for fishing.

Smaller than a grain of rice.

When I had a dead fox the rubbish men were very hapy for it just t be put in the bin, so I take it a rat would be the same

When I turned the creature over most of the underside had been eaten by the Maggots Yummy.

With Gloved (Surgical) Hands I carefully Tripple bagged it and popped it in GREEN Bin

Why not just bury it? And bleach is very harmful to other things when it gets into the soil

Cremate it. If you have a garden you will have things to burn. Make sure dry and a warm stillish day so the flames go straight up and you don't get the garden bonfire police onto you (my neighbour would burn damp grass cuttings, that covered the whole area in acrid smoke). Conditions today fine. Thanks for the distraction from my task list.

It was on flag stones and was washed away within half an hour..

I have 2 small strips of soil stones and rubble down either side of my tiny garden.

Burial was not a realistic option.
