Lochie
I'm being discharged by my midwife this week and want to get her a gift but feel a bit weird about it because I don't know what to get and also don't know if there is a protocol about NHS staff accepting gifts or not!? Not sure about wine in case she doesn't drink, and husband reckons flowers are a no in case they wilt in her car after she visits us. Has anyone else bought a gift for a midwife or have any good ideas of what to get? I want to say thank you to this amazing lady who helped me through a difficult 9 months and made sure I was ok through the whole journey over and above her duty... (I know she does it every day but she really made a difference to us).Top budget about ?30/40 I guess. Any ideas gratefully received :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22695-gift-for-a-midwife/ Share on other sites
Yak
What a lovely idea. We got our (nhs) midwife some flowers and chocs to share among the team. I think so long as the flowers are kept in water til you hand them over they should survive. Otta
I think a card and maybe a small plant would be nice, and appropriate. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22695-gift-for-a-midwife/#findComment-533796 Share on other sites
Lochie
Yes great, potted plant ticks the boxes and avoids the wilt factor and some chocs too. Thanks ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22695-gift-for-a-midwife/#findComment-533799 Share on other sites
Knomester
I took a card and a large tin of homemade brownies to my midwives as a thank you. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22695-gift-for-a-midwife/#findComment-533861 Share on other sites
charlottekb
Champagne and a massive box of chocs. She was delighted. Said she would be sharing the chocs with the office, but that the bubbly was going home with her... amydown
We sent our amazing midwifery team at the Lanes a hamper to share (had to be something they could share as the entire team bar one ended up coming out to look after me during my 48-hour labour!) mumra
I bought the last one a posh tape measure from Cath Kidston (she was always measuring me with an Ikea tape!) and a nice notebook to match as she said she wanted to start keeping her own notes of babies she had delivered on.
