They should compile stats on how recently gentrified areas vote!

You haven't actually looked at the overall stats for the country then, I take it.

Er, these were the results for all of Southwark not just ED. And UKIP got 1.4% of the vote, which was not quite double the votes for the Animal Welfare Party. So pretty crap really.

What the media are failing to mention is that EU citizens were elible to vote in these elections, so have little bearing on what the current mood of the country is regarding Brexit. I'd also suggest that many of those who stayed loyal to Labour or the Tories were not those who voted remain, otherwise they would probably have voted for Lib Dems or Greens.

But I didn't? I've lived in ED all my life, so surely my opinion counts & yours is not a reflection of ED as a whole.

    • Thanks for these responses. Yes, Cllr Browning & Cllr Hartley did a door-knocking exercise a couple of months ago. It was Maggie Browning who knocked and I told her that I'd had radio silence from Jon Hartley. She looked embarrassed but not surprised. I have spoken to him since, only after writting to Ellie Reeves, our MP about it his lack of response. He agreed to address the issue I asked about but I've not heard from him since. It's really not acceptable for an elected Councillor to consistently ignore his ward constituents. Since it's clearly not a one-off, I'm gonna pick this up formally. I'll let you know how I get on...
    • If memory serves, Labour under Corbyn got more electoral  votes than Labour under Starmer. So I'm not sure how you can call that being "unelectable"? Under a different and fairer electoral system Labour would have won. I see moves are afoot to bring in such a different, fairer system, presumably in the hopes of stopping Reform winning next time. BTW there was a mass exodus from Labour  by  the local (East Dulwich) Labour party members when Corbyn was kicked out by Starmer. It isn't just Islington who doesn't want to support  a right or centre right Labour party.
    • Is this the new shop next to Dulwich Tandoori? is it actually open and if so has anyone tried them.
    • It was The Brickhouse - we liked them and it was very sad when they had to close
