Where to buy 2nd hand Apple Mac

You can get refurbed Macs through the official Apple store, the benefit being they are 'legit', come with a one year warranty etc. http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/mac Downside is you could undoubtedly get them cheaper through other sources, Ebay etc. Also, I know someone who got a secondhand Macbook through these guys - http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk/store/ and has had no complaints.

Alan If you have a decent pc with plenty of RAM you can run MAC OS/X inside windows on a virtual machine! Not as difficult as it may sound. VM ware offer a free program or virtual box is open source I run several different operating systems inside my widows seven mobo allows you to experiment with Linux or with Linux you can run them off a "live cd" have fun!!

Good advice wasted on this thread. Though I can't help feeling that Dr Medic will use his overpriced second hand Apple Mac just for the EDF.

There you go AC, here's his website http://www.puremacintosh.com/charges.html

The real beauty about building your own system is that you can select your components in terms of quality, performance, aesthetics and energy efficiency. So you can build a superior PC to an Apple at a given price point. With the right components you can run Lion, Linux and windows concurrently thus making the Apple v PC argument irrelevant for the system builder.

There are a number of limitations in the Apple machines. Firtly, if you have an i5-2500k processor, Apple will not allow you to overclock it on their system. Secondly, they have no USB 3.0s and thirdly, they only give you a one year warranty.

ETA: go in first sentence.

It seems my last post on this thread may have confused your tiny mind. I was talking about building a PC that is superior to a mac at a given price point.

These days there are very little differences in the operating system performance belonging to either an Apple or a PC. Apple do not manufacture their computing components like hard drives, memory and processors. So the system builder rides above the Apple v PC argument and is able to select superior performing components. I'm afraid branding and pricing are for those who don't know any better as they cannot work out/research what is good or bad.

Karl at System Solutions in Blackwater Street could probably source you one. Also, the Apple store now does staggered credit if you decide you would like a new one and can't pay for the whole thing upfront. Have you looked on Ebay or Craigslist?

Clearly my expertise would be wasted on this individual. I suspect his purchase decision, like many don't know any betters, would be based on price and brand only.

Well said, UDT.

I also make my own clothes. This allows me to make my own selection of high-quality cotton, zips and buttons etc - and thus create clothing which is far superior to shop-bought clothes at any given price point.

Presumably you are factoring in your OWN time here as well *Bob*. Just asking.

Would indeed be wasted on me UDT. I tend to purchase items based on the estimated time of how long they will stay afloat in the bath. I find it works for most things and the best indicator an individual like me could have.

    • I can definitely recommend AFE Plumbing services. i had a leaking tap in the kitchen and Aria came out the next morning to identify the problem and bring a new tap to replace the old tap and get it all working very quickly. • I’ve been following the conversation with great interest. I don’t think that london parks and their wildlife are appropriate places for this kind of events. And of course, it also affects residents, too. It was really annoying going to the park with so many people, cans and rubbish everywhere, and noise spreading towards all directions. And think that I do like this kind of music, but I still think that this is not the right place to run big open air events like this. Also, today I saw this on the news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3gg8p770eeo A free event was cancelled because private ones damaged the Brockwell park. Of course a free event would be cancelled, there is no way it’d be the other way around.
