Cold? this is nothing compared to some of the places I have lived in!

Not even any snow in London any more. Last time I remember any snow worth mentioning in the smoke was sitting on the bus home bringing home a Sega Megadrive on the weekend after working on its UK launch..Back in those days it would take easily an hour and a half from Regents ST to Goose Green.

paper knickers, paper knickers what a bloody luxury we didnt even have those. it got that cold on my 25 mile walk to school in 15 ft snow drifts, that my winkle used to constrict into my colon to keep warm.

Sigh

I miss Snow at Christmas, can everyone please stop using electricity, gas, cars and public transport (and anything else that may contribute to London being warm) between now and next Christmas so that we get snow on Christmas day

Where has all the christmas magic gone ?? No more Morecombe and Wise specials, Not even one showing of The Wizard of Oz and shock and horror the only snow I have seen was on Dr Who (did they really kill Kylie off - if so I have 2 now defunct tickets for her in the summer) - also don't remember even seeing White Christmas (dear old Bing) this year...

I miss the old fashioned White Christmas, just like the ones I used to know....

    • Dishing the dirt is generally fine when it comes to politicians and in Farage's case he often deserves it but  nothing illegal  has been done. It is not illegal for him to give his partner a sizeable amount of money with which to buy a house and have it registered in her name. He is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger and so he most likely is making plans to minimise IHT. There is a sliding scale for IHT but basically a gift is free of IHT if the gift is made 7 years before the donor dies. Farage is 64 years old and his partner is 16 years younger. In 7 years time, if he lives that long, he will be 71 years old. Given that he smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish, his odds on getting beyond 71  years may be pretty slim.  A similar  process is followed by the "bank of mum and dad"  where parents  give money to their kids to fund purchase of a property. Many who are not cash rich will mortgage their home and so release equity to fund their kids property. We did it as have many of our friends.
