Great to see everybody yesterday.

11 people sat down for a curry at Curry Cabin. The food was a little variable, some enjoyed their food, some did not. The waiting service was equally variable and became increasingly amusing.

The atmosphere became rather smokey, down to a "gas leak" we were told, which was a comfort. We were not going to allow impending doom to spoil our meal.

As we left it became apparent why things had been haphazard. It was Curry Cabin's last night, the owner retiring and the place shutting down. Foxy had a bottle of Martini Rosso pushed into his hand because he is that kind of man.

Curry Cabin was established in 1970, it says so above the door. That was a good run and I am glad that Curry Club was there to say farewell.

I had a great meal last night...All my food was lovely. It was a bit chaotic..

There is a notice on the door this morning saying the place needs to be emptied by 16th Feb.

I Spoke to the owner this morning who confirmed they were closing down.

He was 16 ? when I first starting using the place in 1971/2

Will be sadly missed. Was my Restaurant of choice for take away due to the proximity of my gaff.

You are a sensitive soul and so we kept the sad news from you. Anyway, the toilet issue might have been me.

I had thought that, but was too polite to say. Possibly explains the ?gas leak? too.

The last time we went to the Curry Cabin (and at one time it was our local Indian restaurant of choice) the reason given for a meal that let's say was not up to their previous standards was that the chef was drunk :))

It was all a bit Fawlty Towers :))

I was up very early this morning, it has been cold all day and I am in Godalming.

Slips of the mind should be forgiven.

29 March. How's that?

    • Palace were at home last night, kicked off at 19.45. The timing sounds about right.
    • The way they were heading, towards the East bound South Circular, and on lights and sirens, wouldn't I think suggest that. I have lived on Underhill for close to 40 years, but it has not formed part of an emergency route until very recently, nor have we had rush hour queues until the LTN introduction. Despite the fact that it is a bus route much of it is residential and doesn't support speeding traffic safely. It's not a route I would chose to put 5 speeding police vans in convoy unless there was no alternative in accessing the A205. Which there now mainly isn't.
    • There were large amounts of police and a couple of TSG vans at London Bridge station last night at a similar time.  Usually that means some sort of Millwall related football clash, but I didn't hang around to find out.
