Well they must be making millions in fines then. I drove over that junction today, & do at least once a week, plenty of cars turning left. No blue signs, no no left turn signs & big white arrow on inside lane pointing ahead & left.

The photo of your car looks like it is not at that corner but the one opposite, making an illegal left turn from Peckham Rye South bound into East Dulwich road, because there is grass instead of a building and 2 black uprights close to eachother on the pavement.
I've just gone onto the web site to the challenge it, and the photos are clearer and I've made a mistake. It's on the other corner (the one corner you cannot turn left). I recollect now a few weeks ago driving down Peckham Rye and there was a huge log jam, did a u-turn and took an illegal left turn.. in the other photos you can see a van in front of me has led the way with a left turn as well. Ouch! They must have a made a lot of money that day the council :-(

Yes you're turning left from Peckham rye onto ED rd. It's been fun trying to solve the mystery - good you cracked it yourself. You'll have to cough up.

I've had quite a few fines from turnings and one way streets in bermondsey due to not knowing the streets and not seeing the signs in time. Pain in the neck.

  • 3 weeks later...

Maybe someone could help explain why I have got a Penalty Notice for turning right from Peckham Rye Junction onto East Dulwich Road. 'Failing to drive in the direction shown by the arrow on a blue sign'. I'm sure you can usually turn right? If it was a blue sign would that be temporary one?.....

Wish I hadn't gone to the re-cycling centre....should have called bulk waste collection for ?16!

    • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
