That, I was under the impression, applied to postal submissions.

All of Chesterfield Grove "should" have been notified or at least those that submitted comments the last time round. Although saying that, last time the only reason the whole street was notified was due to a resident physically posting the notice through the doors themselves so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it hasn't been done yet.

It is certainly disappointing the planning department aren't more active or at least our councilors pushing for a bit more action to be done.

Consistency all round is questionable.

The Co-op is planning on selling off a large chunk of its supermarket estate within the m25 as part of a money saving and restructuring exercise. All this Iceland/M&S debacle may well be a flash in the pan compared to when and if 56-62 Lordship Lane gets sold on and taken over by Waitrose or similar.

Louisa Surely they are waiting for a sub-sub committee to meet to arrange a meeting for the sub committee to meet and arrange a date for when they themselves can meet to arrange a date to be submitted and confirmed to make a final decision

When you get a little Older you might understand.

You might also want to find out what the plans are all about before making such comments too Richy86

Spider69,

Please dont insult me with with your derogatory comments.

You can honestly say you would prefer the eye sore that is Iceland over a Waitrose or M&S? As a resident of ED surely you see the benefit of the Waitrose effect? It is widely known that the presence of such a store can be quite prosperous for the area. Plus Iceland stores are ghastly.

Fight it all you want but I think you might find there are quite a few changes that take place over the next few years as the area grows in popularity.

The increase in popularity is going to bring about regeneration and with that comes the interest from larger businesses.

Richy,

Many might find an M&S more of an imposition- do read the planning application and then you will understand local concerns about over development.

In what ways do you think the area would benefit from 'regeneration' and the interest of larger businesses moving in? Do you have a particular vision for the high street?

James couldnt agree with you more.

People love a moan. Like you say, the older people get, the harder it is to embrace change.

ED's population is getting younger and more affluent. The local economy will naturally adapt to cater for that.

As Spider says, maybe when im older I will understand...

    • That explains why no-one was there when I went yesterday. Something else to complain about this evening then, and given that at least one adjacent ward is having their Labour Party branch AGM this evening (the one Renata Hamvas belongs to), may well be raised in passing conversation there😉 .
    • Why do the street  tree people turn up on the day they are going to actually do  work on a tree, say they need to park their large  vehicle in three adjacent free car spaces, and then expect to be able to immediately find the owners of every nearby car??? And then if they do by luck manage to find one, expect them to move their car somewhere else even though every other space  in the road is taken? And even if that would  leave only one car space, which they can't actually use anyway because they can't find the owners of the other two cars parked next to it? Is it beyond the wit of the tree department to put a communication through the door of nearby houses a week (say)  in advance asking them to save three  spaces on the day?  And even providing cones to do so? I hate to think how much time must be wasted on this. And now, the tree people have come back on another day and seem to be managing to do the work anyway even though there are still no parking spaces near the tree 🙄
