Peckhamrye
I have an i-phone 4s and love it, love the touch screen for texting...but I probably don't exploit the apps as much as I could. mrcee
I have had temple run on android for past few months so i think the apps lag on android seems to be shortening considerably these days. I run galaxy nexus and very happy so far, little difference between my ipad apps and android apps Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23525-android-or-apple/#findComment-545564 Share on other sites

El Pibe
Six of one really. There's a lag in the other direction too, especially as android phiones are by far the majority of smartphones and java is much more widely known than objective-c. PLus I don't think there are any killer apps that either have exclusively. Photosynth is exclusive to iOS, but occiptal 360 is on both. iCloud isn't a killer as fropbox is available on both. For hipstamatic see instagram and pixlr-o-matic etc etc.I'd say you're asking the wrong question, if you're going smartphone route then then main things to consider, which should point you towards a phone rather than an OS. The order will vary according to everyone's priorities1) Interface (for me this is everything. get any of it wrong it the little irks will end up grinding you down. I had an old samsung (pre samrt phones) that made me want to garotte passers by every time I used it it was so awful2) Battery life. Let's face it, all smart phones are pretty bad. iPhone has improved but used to be woeful. My Galaxy S2 is ok, but for the most part they're all plug in every night, the question is will it even last the day. Check out user reviews, manufacturers technical specs aren't worth the paper in my experience. I have read that the new nokia (windows mobile is it happens) is very good in this respect.3)Camera. Ok so granted most of the instagram type things try to lo-fi the quality and then crucify the quality when compressing for upload. But I do take alot of pics with my phone when I don't have proper cameras and it's nice to have the option to use it as a camera. again the S2 is excellent quality, the video too. Sony Ericssons excel here, iPhones are pretty rubbish to be fair though rumours are that the 5 will finally have something that competes on that front.4)Entertainment - I can't really comment on this much as i prefer dedicated gadgets for music, reading, video etc as I'm loathe to use that precious battery life, but again check out the individual phones, go to shops and get hands on is my advice. But again I don't think the OS is that important unless you're so very very keen on iTunes. Otta
I have Xperia arc, and like it a lot. There is a newer version since I got mine, but battery life is relatively okay (charge it every night, but it's never died on me), and camera is very good. Not used an iPhone, so can't compare, but Android has certainly been good enough for me. I'm not particularly big on apps though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23525-android-or-apple/#findComment-545602 Share on other sites
Salsaboy
Android. I have an HTC Desire and it works just fine for me. Apple? Pah. The work of the Devil. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23525-android-or-apple/#findComment-545804 Share on other sites

aquarius moon
I don't have an Apple computer.I don't have an i-pad.I don't have an i-pod.I don't use i-tunes.So, I don't have, or need an i-phone.Did my homework, decided on an Android smartphone instead (galaxyS2) & never regretted it.I Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23525-android-or-apple/#findComment-545817 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
One issue in choosing apple v android is whether you can get sky mobile. I can't get it on my HTC One X as yet but you can get it on apple and also some android phones. Otherwise I think android is generally better than apple now. indiepanda
I've got a galaxy 2 for personal use and an iphone for work, and I prefer the former, though apps aren't that important to me. The iphone battery seems to run down quicker and the samsung feels lighter to me.
