Mmm, tinned pears with chocolate sauce. Nice one Help-Ma.

And Salsaboy, you're so right. Even now, in spite of knowing that it's rock solid and so bitter it will give you a poorly tummy, it looks golden and plump and enticing, and I'm almost tempted to try again in case the other side's better.

The other side is not better.

Conference pears are not so mendacious.

So sorry Rosie.

Eddie Izzard....

Pears can just f*u*ck off too. 'Cause they're gorgeous little beasts, but they're ripe for half an hour, and you're never there. They're like a rock or they're mush. In the supermarket, people banging in nails. "I'll just put these shelves up, mate, then you can have the pear." ? So you think, "I'll take them home and they'll ripen up." But you put them in the bowl at home, and they sit there, going, "No! No! Don't ripen yet, don't ripen yet. Wait til he goes out the room! Ripen! Now now now!"

Ribs of Joy

If you're in Brixton Village and you're heading out of Honest Burger.

Walk down toward Brixton Cornucopia, which will be on the left corner. Stop there and look across right. There's a place across the way, with darkwood windows and about 10 or so small tables.

That's the utterly-delicious-ribs-place (where I broke said tooth), I think they're Columbian/Brazilian, maybe

Friggin lovely it is though

(inset toothless smile here)

P.s. it might be called Elsantafereno

    • Sorry, I know this isn't strictly an East Dulwich topic but as there are so many late-Victorian properties in the area I wondered if anyone has seen anything similar in their house and can advise. We have what looks like an old gas outlet on the back wall of our daughter's bedroom which we'd like to remove, but we weren't sure whether it's safe to do so. Do I just call a registered gas engineer to check it out? And is it definitely a gas outlet or might it be something else? It's at floor level so maybe electricity but it doesn't look like any electricity outlet I've ever seen! Has anyone had any experience of dealing with something similar?

    • End of a wonderful era. We’ve been going since it opened and even started contractions with my oldest (25 year old) son during a lovely New Year’s Eve lunch. Thank you Rod and Tim for some amazing memories.
