Fake or not, anything that has the potential to suffocate Gareth Gates gets my vote...

I just saw it as bringing living history to the people.....

Plus, it is the only part of the RAF that is still serviceable......

Proceeds of crime act 2002

This allows for the confiscation of assets that have have accrued via the machinations of a criminal act. The Empire was a criminal organisation, involved in genocide and theft on a global scale

This act should be enforced to ensure the royals do not benefit from the actions of the original Evil Empire.

Actually, that's not true. George V changed the family surname from Wettin to Windsor in 1917. The dynasty was called House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and that was changed to House of Windsor at the same time.

Elizabeth II's real surname is, and always has been, Windsor. Though she should really be Mountbatten-Windsor by marriage, she decided to keep 'Windsor'.

Anyway, I always find that comment (and it's hardly new) more than a teensie bit racist. It's a bit like asking a black person born in Britain, "where are you *really* from". Or assuming someone whose grandparents were Chinese would speak Cantonese.

"well i dont no how you say god save the queen in German ,,but im sure she does". Hmmm.

And why did they change? Well, as I said, they changed it in 1917. What was the big news story that year?

Whilst on the subject of Racism let us take a look at The Union Jack.

Symbol of Empire and Imperialism. Of Oppression and adopted by ultra right wing extreem groups of Racists.

It is outdated and has no place in this day and age..

In 1606, the first Union Jack flag was created by merging the English flag

(the red cross of Saint George)

with the Scottish flag

(the diagonal white cross of Saint Andrew on a blue background).

Then, in 1801, the addition of Ireland to the United Kingdom added the Irish flag to the flag

(the red Saint Patrick's cross).

And with Scotland on the verge of Independence, the flag may soon have to go..

    • That'll be a strobe gun, and yes, it is used for ignition timing. Not so useful with modern cars because timing is done via the ECU, but you could lock yourself in your darkened garage, put on some late 80s Detroit techno - such as Derrick May's 'Strings of Life - and use the strobe light to have yourself a little rave. The above websites are close to useless for checking the service history of older cars - there's no legal requirement to have your car serviced, let alone have it recorded somewhere.
    • Call National Grid and say you have a problem with a gas pipe  0800 111 999  and with luck they will fix it for free.  Most likely my diagnosis.   Some nutter had done their own gas plumbing in my house and National Grid blanked off both a supply to an old gas fire and a wrought iron pipe in the bathroom that supplied to the old bathroom water heater originally in the house. Extremely unlikely to be connected, may be from the days of gas lighting (mainly over by the 1920s) .  Gas connection will have long since been modernised.  If it hasn't been blanked off then just turn it on and sniff, or if you are like me light it.  This is how gas fitters did it in the past,  Although at your own risk (you are more likely to asphyxiate from natural gas, it is not poisonous, and the smell is an additive, so you can smell leaks. Chances are you are old enough to have used Bunsen burners at school. The end of the video is great, the biggest source of gas is your boiler, and if you house hasn't blown up already......
    • Thanks, that's very helpful to have that confirmed! Really wasn't sure what we were dealing with. Will look into a gas engineer...
    • Ah, dozy me.  Thanks for pointing that out.   I was so impressed by the MOT details being there I  didn't  expect anything else could be so didn't check any further.  I've not owned anything with an internal combustion engine for decades.  Recently found a light tool that I've a dim memory of using for (??) timing checks.
