I often wonder who leaves their phone as just the phone name? Assuming you want to use bluetooth at all you are going to need some kind of individual name and judging by the amount of k880is and N73s I see knocking around....

Rolo - it would make more sense for some of use to seek you out that way, but I believe yourecognise half of us from photos so just say hi

Actually - if you did find a forumite this way - what would you actully do? Send a message saying "erm... Sean.. this is ZX8phone ... fancy a pint?"

modern mobiles tend to have Bluetooth technology which basically identifies your phone to other Bluteooth users (anyone else with a mobile basically)

You can choose what name to broadcast as - so if you are sat in a busy pub and want to see if a mate has arrived you could just check your mobile and list bluetooth devices in the room

You can switch it off if it worries you obviously

(The South London Botanical Institute actually conduct wildflower identification walks on street wild flowers.) However, as the council consider themselves to be responsible for removing these plants, it's better that they now dig them out rather than spraying them with toxic herbicide, as they used to do - a step in the right direction.
    • It's interesting how local businesses and the people that own / work in them are not considered part of the "community". The dictionary says "a group of people living in the same place" as the principal definition. Why are we forced to accept a secondary definition where those who don't live in social housing, the vast majority of people in East Dulwich, are told to shut up?
