Recommended: brilliant builder for Victorian tiled path - Bujar Doda

Recommended Posts

We?ve just had a black and white tiled path laid at our Victorian terrace by Doda, a brilliant builder who I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend. He also re-rendered our walls, fitted railings and a new gate, and laid slate slabs to the side.

Doda was diligent, polite, honest and a pleasure to have around. His rates were very reasonable too. Let me know if you?d like to see photos of our path - happy to send.

Hi Kittenheels - thank you so much for this recommendation. I rang Doda after reading your message and he came round straight away to give me a quote and we went ahead with it. The job is almost finished and I am so happy with it, I wanted to share too!

Nik & Doda completely renovated the front of our Victorian terraced house. They worked to our brief and built new walls, piers and laid a tiled path and resin surface, as well as prepping and painting the front of the house and door. Much of the detail on the front of the house had been lost due to years of just painting over it, but Nik took great care to bring back the sharp edges and detail before painting. It was all done for a good price and with a smile. We are fussy but have been so pleased with this company and would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

Edited to include photos! And again to take off the duplicate photo!!

A further recommendation for Doda and his colleague.

Doda attended my property and provided a quote within an hour and completed the works the following day. The job was a relatively small one, taking up old tiles and replacing with new on my front door step. Doda provided expert knowledge, was a tidy worker and was very punctual. His quote was also very competitive. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Hello - Just wanted to add my recommendation for Doda and his team who have just finished a Victorian tiled path at my house as well as painting a wall and digging and taking away a dead hedge. Very neat and tidy job and to a high standard.

Adding my recommendation to this thread, which is where I came across Bujar Doda.

What a brilliant find! Bujar is an excellent builder and a great person to deal with.

We got him to do various repairs to our long boundary wall in Camberwell, including

- removing and reinstating a tree damaged section of brick wall

- repointing and refacing brickwork

- repairing and painting sections

- repairs to victorian tiled path

He was quick to come round, produced a reasonable quote and was great on site - good communicator, tidy and really nice to have around. We were really pleased with the end result and very much hope to work with him again on other projects, but happy to recommend him in the meantime!

Hello,

I just wanted to reiterate how good Bujjar Doda is. He has just completed some work to both our front and back gardens in Camberwell; porcelain slabs at the front and back and replacement fencing with concrete posts and gravel boards. We got lucky and managed to catch him while he was between big jobs and he managed to fit us in last minute. We did have to panic buy the slabs and fencing on Monday evening for him to start on the Tuesday but the panic was worth it. He?s an excellent builder and I would wholeheartedly recommend him. He?s clean and polite, as is his worker and they go like the clappers with only a short break for lunch. None of the messing around you get with other builders/workers who promise to turn up and then they don?t.

I?m so glad I found his details on the EDF. We need a replacement shower as well and I would rather wait the 4 months to get him to do it than have someone come around to quote and then never get back to us. So sick of tradesmen doing that over the last year.

    • Well why don’t you start totally backwards and have an idea as to what nursery and primary schools you want to target - plenty of good schools as you know each offering their own take.  large home - what are we talking about here 4/5 beds I assume with a large garden. North Dulwich Triangle - are you talking about Half Moon Lane and up to Herne Hill plus the other side say Stradella Road etc but don’t think your budget would stretch that far ! So really you want to reproduce what you have in and  around Abbeyville Road but  in Dulwich area to access both the good private and  state schools  - use to Live in Rodenhurst Road years ago - now they are nice big house with good gardens. How long do you want to commute to get to the City.? I assume you want to aces the city via ED Station or ND station and Denmark Hill Station. I know some people who actually cycle to work in the city - faster and not trapped in carriage like a sardine.! One would hope for the money you are considering spending, you won’t be undergoing major works. Dulwich Estate are not known to be the easiest to deal with and my recommendation if you are gonna be knocking down walls, building out or up is to get your self a good surveyor who is use to dealing with Dulwich Estate. My other suggestion would be to try out the trains in rush hour or when ever you both need to get into the City to work. Go walk in Dulwich Park and talk to the locals - that would give you an idea as well or do you have friends living locally. Houses around Telegraph Hill area would tick the boxes  and although limited with schooling might be OK. Good schools but not as much choice as Dulwich. To be perfectly  honest, with that budget and given the ages of your children why don’t you move to the country. -  much better for bringing up kids, commute would prob be under an hour depending on how far and which county. Your kids are still young so really education atm is not paramount. If moving to the country is too far a jump  then why don’t you consider maybe Beckenham or Bromley - lovely areas there as well. schools all decent to. Wishing you the best in your journey.
    • I'd try the Dulwich Village or "North Dulwich Triangle" forums for more local knowledge but I don't think those areas compare to Abeville Road at all. It will be quite a different lifestyle.
    • Yes, Dulwich Village commands a premium and justifiably so given access to the City via London Bridge plus the top rate schools within walking distance.  The bus services are really good also - 37, 42 and P4. The P4 is useful for connecting to the Victoria line at Brixton. It's worthwhile waiting for the right property. I know of one which will be coming on the market in a few weeks - 4 bedrooms and south facing garden circa £2.5m.
    • This is an utterly foolish and alarmist statement, completely at odds with reality.
