Sound of children

I am sitting in my garden, enjoying a glass of red wine, absolutely loving the sound of children from various neighboruring gardens, out playing in their gardens having a lovely, fun late evening playing ball and doing what kids should be doing.

Happy children is a good noise! Screeching, crying, swearing and constantly whining children are a different matter all together!

I once stayed with a friend and her husband who had recently bought a house on a new development - house lovely, development huge and soulless. We were sat outside on a gorgeous summer evening drinking wine and chatting - and there was not a sound from any other garden, though all the houses were occupied, some by families. No children, no adults, no dogs - nothing. It was very very odd.

oimissus I had the same experience - and their brand new house was immaculate with no toys in any room except the playroom - even before kids I thought it was very odd!
