I hope you get some advice from parents of children already at the schools. It's very hard as both schools have not had an Ofsted visit for a while (around 6 years for Rosendale and 9 years for Dulwich Infants). The average for childminders/nurseries/schools in the area for an Ofsted inspection is around 3 years and they are all inspected under the same framework.

Think both are good and people are happy with both. Consider what you'll do at 7 though if you select DVIS? Ie if you'll continue to rent in the area and will be close enough to Dulwich Hamlet for juniors, then fine. If you'll move further away that might not work out as well. There's no automatic transfer between the Infants and the Hamlet, so you reapply during year 2 for year 3.

If you have the chance to go and see the schools, it would probably be best before selecting - if not pick the one that will be easiest to get to / from?

Both schools and all other primary schools in the Dulwich area are good. I would second what Goldilocks says that if your child goes to DVI you need to consider distance to Dulwich Hamlet if that is where you would like your child to go for Juniors. DVI is small as it's infants only and Rosendale is a larger than average (3 form entry) primary. Also DVI is a faith (Church of England) school and Rosendale is a community school run by the Lambeth. Also be aware that you will need to apply in the LA you live in, you can (and should) apply to 6 local schools in order of preference and the closing date if your child is 4 before the 31st August 2020 is 15th January 2020.

    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
