Hi minikatsu has a place in Goose Green nursery in September, hooray. We didn't receive any info with our acceptance letter and I meant to call the office with some questions but embarrassingly have been too unorganised. And now the school is closed, oops.

So to any GG parents, do I have to buy a uniform for nursery? Or just a school jumper? And where can I get one, I assume the uniform shop on Grove Vale? And can he just wear his "normal" shoes? Any other tips greatly appreciated!

Nursery children need white shirt, aertex is fine, grey trousers or dress/skirt, girls can wear green gingham dresses in September if weather merits it. All you need is a logo jumper, available from school office (uniform shop on Grove Vale caters for the private schools and in my experience of trying to buy generic accessories they are very very snooty). Also a bookbag, also available from school office. Get them on first week back, no one will mind if there is a day or two without the jumper except your little one who will no doubt want to wear the same as everyone else.

Shoes should be black and sensible but they are relatively relaxed in nursery. I sent mine in plimsols at first; cheap hard wearing and retro!

Next term the school will have the parent pay facility which will allow us to order and pay for uniform online which will make life easier.

If you are totally desperate I can loan you a jumper for the first week, we have plenty!

Hi - my son has just finished at Goose Green nursery (it's fab by the way!) - as he is off to St John's in September I have a spare jumper going if you'd like it? (we had 2 but I donated one to the nursery as a spare) it's the smallest size so depending on whether your little one is big/small for their age it may or may not be ok - anyway it's yours if you'd like it - just send me a PM and we can arrange for you to pick it up.

    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones.
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
