hallo all

i have to get to Liverpool Street Station via public transport for 9.30 am tomorrow morning. What do people think would be least disrupted - a 40 bus to Aldgate and walk over, or the train to L'Bridge and then tube? I'd really appreciate your advice! (travelling with kids - dreading it)

cheers

Ollie

You can also get a 35 from Camberwell Green straight to Liverpool Street.

But I don't know what the traffic might be like.

Or you can get the train to London Bridge (or a 40), then there are loads of buses which go from London Bridge to Liverpool Street. The bus stop is just at the beginning of the bridge, on the other side from the station, and is the same stop that the 40 stops at.

ETA: I wouldn't be too keen to take small children on the tube in the rush hour, albeit it maybe it wouldn't be too bad during the Summer with people on holiday. But then there's the olympics .....

Have you signed up to travel alerts from tfl? I just had a very comprehensive email from them regarding tomorrow's Olympic events and which transport links will be affected/busiest. They'll be sending them out each day throughout the Games. I can forward you the email if you PM me.

The number 42 also goes to Liverpool Street from Camberwell from the same stop as the 35.

If you have small kids I would avoid London Bridge then tube as they are making you walk a long long way around temporary fencing to get from the trains to the tube. I work near Liverpool Street station and find the best way is Forest Hill to Shoreditch High Street then bus or walk, or train to London Bridge and BUS to Liverpool Street station - 149 or 48. Much better than the tube.

    • Welcome back. What have voting intentions got to do with this thread? And much as you may hate the present incarnation of so-called Labour, as do I,  I don't think it is true that they have "not done a single positive thing for working class people", is it? And how exactly are you defining "working class people", anyway?
    • I can’t bear the media “is this racist comment racist” angle taken to reporting it. I feel like she’s a useful out rider for Farage to test how far they can take their rhetoric - it’s not the first time she’s said things that cross over the line. Overt racism is becoming far more commonplace and it’s deeply concerning.
    • Dear families,  I am exploring the idea of starting a casual, low cost Mandarin club for children in the area. This would be a fun,play-based introduction to the language and culture for young learners. Before I organize anything,  I wanted to see if there is any interest! If you might be interested, could you please reply to this post or PM with  1. Your child’s age.  2.What kind of format you’d prefer( A. weekly playgroup, B after-school club,  C. weekend session) Even a simple”interested!”  helps. This is just a preliminary survey.  No commitment.
