I didn't want to start a new thread, had there been one on the Streatham attack it would've gone into that one. This was the most recent 'political' thread so I put it in here. It's the Lounge after all, anything goes...

Well, as it's a quiet day on trade talks...

I would've thought that had the report contained anything explosive against the Gov something would've been leaked by now. Equally, if the report had nothing explosive in it, the Gov itself would've leaked something along those lines. So my ha'penny's worth is that it's somewhere in between, there has been Russian influence but of the Tory donor kind, and probably more extensive than thought...

I don't 'come up' with this 'stuff....it's all fact or personal experience since I do venture out of London frequently and talk to other people...

The EU does not give grants to move jobs out of the UK. Here is some fact checking for you Uncle. I suggest you read it and respond.

http://ilovetheeu.co.uk/trade/no-the-eu-does-not-fund-companies-to-move-jobs-out-of-the-uk/

And many of the things listed in that blog Uncle are a direct result of the policies by our OWN governments, who privatised everything (nothing to do with the EU) and under invested in our own startups (nothing to do with the EU) and moved us to a free market service sector economy in light of global competition.

We invented many things, like graphene and the micro-chip. But we have always been bad at central investment in our own talents. Again, nothing to do with the EU.

Moaning that companies move to where labour is cheaper is also something that won't be fixed because we have left the EU. The Tory government you all laud are for even more free market profiteering over protectionist central management of industry.

So which is it Uncle? Free market or socialism? You seem confused.

Im not questioning the 'fact checking' of the website being referenced...as to be honest I haven't yet clicked on the link.

But suffice to say that I can imagine the derision and bile that would spew forth on these pages if any Leavers posted a 'factcheck' from a site called ihatetheEU.com......

Nope. If a leaver posted FACTS, they would be taken seriously. Uncle posted lies from a blog that deliberately made stuff up for leave voters. How about you look at both links and make an informed judgement instead of the whataboutery and assumption you have replied with? Now is the time for reality. Facts and details. Not the lies that both campaigns were fought along.

So you?re not interesting in the facts

But you think that it?s useful to comment in sensationalist terms on what people haven?t said about something that hasn?t happened.

What?s the point? Haven?t you any opinions on EU trade?

Calm down dear...it was a wry observation about the name of a website, not an attack on truth or 'facts' (or 'incomplete facts as the case may be on this occasion).

So now you want my opinions??....please make up your mind as to whether you want opinions or facts...

You don?t think that facts should inform opinions?

Maybe be not in your case

Good to see you won't be commenting on something you can't be bothered to read, and that you're at least being honest about it.

Oh, no, that restraint didn't last long! Your usual tactic of attacking a "lack of decorum and respect" is now being used on imaginary "derision and bile"! Innovative!

It gets better! You start questioning the fact checking of the site immediately after posting that you won't be questioning the fact checking of the website you haven't even clicked on! Classic!

I suppose resorting to insults does seem to fit with somebody unwilling or unable to provide a shred of evidence for their assertions on animal welfare.

    • @Earl, Be assured, it is purely a local group. In fact it is a genteel group of Dulwich area residents, mostly ladies , who are a little  reluctant to publish their individual names as they do not wish to be targets for hostility from internet trolls. Local residents who attended the anti-LTN gatherings in Dulwich would have easily recognised the active members of the group. Should you have any queries about funding, it is quite easy to send them an email.
    • Hi  I have a spare old wheelbarrow that you could have for free. You’d need to come and collect it from Telegraph Hill, so drop me a message if you’re still looking and we can arrange a time best wishes carrie
    • This is quite a serious allegation. What evidence is there of this? Pressured how and by whom? This is quite a spin on ‘it’s been agreed with the emergency services’. They think the vehicles pictured driving through with partially covered plates are the result of ‘poor signage’ 🤔  If it is as they say ‘small numbers’ driving through the square, that doesn’t suggest that the signage is unclear. I mean who honestly believes it’s possible to drive through there without noticing the signs / planters (assuming you’re driving with due care and attention)?! 🤨  Also, haven’t ‘One’ opposed any improvements to the layout / landscaping and signage proposed by Southwark? It’s all a bit desperate. At the height of the LTN ‘controversy’ a number of co-ordinated ‘One’ groups popped up across London. It doesn’t feel like a local grassroots movement, but has all the hallmarks of astroturfing. The lack of transparency about it’s funding / sponsorship and structure does not help with this impression.
    • Hi there, My children and I are adopting 4 ex-battery hens and seeking a secondhand home for them, let me know if you have anything, of any style that might fit four feathered ladies in. I can collect at your convenience this weekend or during the week.    Warmest, Hannah
