Judging by comments I have seen online, some people say Sharks are wonderful, some say Dysons are wonderful, some say Sharks are rubbish, some say Dysons are rubbish.

Have you looked at the Which reviews? Funnily enough I've got a load of stuff in front of me at the mo, because I'm toying with the idea of getting a cordless vacuum, and I see that Which does compare the two (though not necessarily the models you are looking at, I guess).

According to Which? there's not much between Dyson ans Shark - except the price.

The best of each in their latest survey was

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal 2 (?299) and the

Shark Lift Away True Pet NV601UKT (?184).

Even cheaper - and as good - was the AEG X Force VX6-2-CB-P (?99).

All of these tests were done AFTER the EU imposed power restrictions on vacuum cleaners. The majority of vacuums since then are in the power range of 700-900watts so as to comply with the 80Db noise limit also. Previously the best vacuums were in the power of 1200 - 1500 watts.

Power generally equates to the strength of the suction provided, hence none of the latest models have seriously impaired performance compared to previously. Simply put they suck because they don't have enough suck.

    • Has anyone else noticed a small notice, midway on the green, metal barricade, that is flagging another event in September? It seems to be another event organiser has been granted a licence to operate in the same area of the park? Does anyone know more? If Cllr Hamvas is around, perhaps she could shed some light on this and any other plans for further commercial exploitation of our precious park, by this council.
    • Anyway, along with most of the (many)  things I'm presently worrying about, it will all sort itself out one way or another when I find myself doing something about it. I have to remind myself that I'm not starving in Gaza or being bombed or living in America. Thanks everyone for your help, all your comments have been very useful, I  have read and  "liked" them all, even if I didn't acknowledge individual posts x
    • I suppose car clubs operate outside of London but it sounds like it requires quite a lot of forward planning. Not sure how helpful if you need to make a last minute journey out of London and are unclear when you will travel back.
    • Thanks, I will investigate. But how does this work if you want to drive out of London and leave the car somewhere else? And then pick.up another car a few days later to drive home?
