SteveUK1978
Random question but why do people walk between train carriages when boarding at LBG? The train is on the platform, departure time is often 5 or 10 mins away, yet often if you sit at the back or front of the carriage people move between them. If the train was about to leave and the carriage you enter was full.....maybe I get it, but never is that the case. Why? Why? Someone who has done this please explain why?It is not a criticism or a social comment.....just explain why? Grass is always greener maybe?A deep point I'm sure you will agree....but I need to ask. the-e-dealer
Once you are on even if the train closes doors early you are on. Has happened! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25132-train-walkers/#findComment-569374 Share on other sites
the-e-dealer
Also if you see a good seat from outside by the time you have entered and doubled back a "Train Walker" may have beaten you to it!. Sayroo
Because someone boards with a Burger King meal, decides to sit down beside you and the smell is just too repulsive to bear? KidKruger
I always thought this was because people get on on one carriage but have an idea of where they want to get off to access stairs or gates on the platform at station they'll be arriving at, so it's a positioning tactic. SteveUK1978
Yes, not considered the Burger King / McDonalds scenario. Very good. KidK - valid but why not just walk down the platform and board at the desired location? But thank you.Isn't it funny what you post on the EDF at 8.36pm after a few (lot) of afternoon beers in the sunshine. Help-Ma-Boab
It's the ones who walk past the first open door just as the train is about to leave then run up the platform to get on, just in time the I find strange. maxxi
The really daring ones are the tube walkers, carriage to carriage on the Northern Line is a real feat - I think they are probably tourists looking for the buffet car or the loos. jctg
85% (or so) of 'train walkers' are 'nutters'.Likewise, 70% (or so) of people who sit on the aisle seats of buses or trains when the window seat is vacant are arseholes. Bic Basher
Train walking is nothing short of frustrating on some tube lines when the door opens or leans on the window, it automatically sets off the brakes, which is why you get sudden jolts while mid journey between stops. You can walk between carriages on the new Met line trains and on the ELL. SteveUK1978
I'm pleased this thread has a few hits, my last question got unceremoniously moved by the admin. While we are on annoying train habits, let's have a moment to reflect on those who:a) try and enter the train before those exiting have alighted - the French tourist seems prime culprit to me.b) those who try and exit (or at least barge their way to the door) before the train has stopped and even open the doors. Where do they hope to go? Some people. Think it's time to move to a place with no metro / mass transit system.
