Hello,

We are moving to Nottingham in October after living in ED for the past 4 years. Any suggestions for areas in Nottingham and also for schools, both primary and secondary as my son is in year6 now? I will be working in QMC.

Is it wiser to move to Nott and then apply for schools or vice versa?

thanks

The formal city has some of the worst schools in England. West Bridgford is just outside the city (although in the conurbation) quite upmarket and has excellent schools. West Bridgford comp is much sought after. Parts of Wollaton and Beeston ( near the QMC) are pleasant enough with good schools. And near the University, which is lovely with grounds open to the public. The league table for schools in Notts is a good place to start.

It's a fine place, with a superb football club.

    • Personally I feel its a shame for the tree. The bridge looks pretty badly damaged-I just hope it does'nt mean the entrance from Dulwich Common/Lordship Lane will be closed for ages while they fix it.
    • This is such a shame for the bridge.  I wonder if anyone saw it fall, and when it was (at night?) Is the walking path through the woods still accessible?
    • Free range chickens &/ organic whole chickens are around £15-20 retail these days…  Given their credentials in hospitality etc I’d assume Norbert’s has sourced decent quality chicken, wholesale. The fact they aren’t saying anything about that on the menu or website seems strange…  if it were true it would help justify the price. Chicken & 2 x Chips - would work out £10.50 a head between 4… not bad if it’s decent quality chicken and seasoned well with care & skill
    • I have no lawn but still trying to get wild flowers to germinate. After a couple of years sowing seeds I've finally managed to produce some ox eye daisies. Still trying to succeed with cornflowers, vipers bugloss to name but a few. A couple of foxgloves are coming up. Its a gradual process for which we need lots of patience. Don't forget after No Mow May it's Let it Bloom June.
