More pieces of the Covid jigsaw puzzle have been falling into place.

The French sold China all the technology and design for an advanced virus laboratory in Wukan. Any such lab can be used to develop germ warfare products.

When it was established, the Chinese refuse to allow the French access the the laboratory. See...

China did not advise the WHO until January that there was a new virus existed until January but subsequent evidence has emerged that it was actually out and spreading as far back as October.

Covid19 has now been analysed and found to have a range of characteristics which is believed to be impossible to have developed naturally. One such characteristic is the asymptomatic transmission. Others are the wide range of detrimental effect that it has on victims. Organs affected include lungs, blood, brain and for survivors their health can be impaired long term. This indicates beyond reasonable doubt that the Chinese have been cutting and splicing various viruses in their labs and that Vovid19 escaped.

This week we learned that China has developed a vaccine (surprise, surprise) which it is going to innoculate all its military.

This week Kong Kong was hit by the big fist of Beijing.

What will the do next?

Covid19 has now been analysed and found to have a range of characteristics which is believed to be impossible to have developed naturally. One such characteristic is the asymptomatic transmission. This is not a universally agreed view - others (outside China) argue the opposite (that this was not manufactured). Just because you can quote a source does not mean that source is right. The impact of the pneumonia which follows bad cases is not dissimilar to the impacts of other pneumonias. That the Wuhan lab does gene splicing is not in doubt, that is its purpose. If the virus is very variable, that would argue against a spliced virus, where consistency of effect is one of the requirements. It is possible, of course, that this is a escapee - but many experts with no political axes to grind do not believe this.

And it is hardly surprising that the Chinese, like so many others, including a number in the UK, are working on vaccines and treatments. It is the typical action of a totalitarian state that it would require its military to act as guinea-pigs to test the vaccine - the PLA is a very large organisation and you would need a lot of test subjects to validate a vaccine where the infection rate is currently low (as the Chinese claim).

It doesn't really make much difference where it came from now but if it came from a 'wet' market like the first SARS in 2002 then we are doomed to another outbreak

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/04/14/asia/china-wet-market-coronavirus-intl-hnk/index.html

The salient points are that 94% of the wet markets on China's mainland were open by 22nd March and that even if a ban is put on illegal trade in wildlife it will move underground.

    • It doesn't matter what channel it was on, how pernicious the subject is and when it happened. Mis-representing the truth in broadcast is not only morally wrong, it's against the OFCOM code of ethics.  Everyone in the industry is trained in how not to do it, most are made to take the BBC's own 'Safeguarding the Trust' course, even if they aren't making BBC programmes.  There wasn't much fuss at the time, because no one knew about it.  "Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings". What the programme makers personally think or feel should never affect how they tell a story; to do so is deeply unprofessional and a sackable offence.  It's the job of the BBC and of all programming to inform viewers of the facts and let them make up their own minds. Even in campaigning documentaries.
    • Hadn't realised that the Panorama programme that people are up in arms about was over a year ago.  There wasn't much fuss at the time so why drag it up.  Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings. The programme was clumsy, but the vast majority of us know that Trump had an influence.  So the Telegraph has played into his hands.
    • I tried a Lime bike once, too heavy and bulky for me but I understand that many really like them.  And very much support the concept.
