Can anyone help? Our pear tree, as well as our neighbours, seems to have some sort of disease. The leaves have got large yellow patches on them and underneath the leaves are a sort of brown, spiky attachment. Ironically, the pears this year have been beautiful. Our neighbour has completely cut hers down but we are loathe to do this as it is such a lovely tree. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and how we could treat it? I will try to attach a photo but have never done it before so can't promise success!

I have no idea - whatever they are, it is really rather horrid looking. I'd say it is on a good 60% of all the leaves. I don't know whether to take off all the affected leaves?

All fruit trees need a grease band on the trunk

There's a common disease that causes the leaves to curl & or discolour. The bug crawls up the tree in the early season and lays eggs under the leaf.

Best treatment is to apply the grease band about 2 ft above the ground, this stops future invasions, as they can't breach the divide. You'll then need to spray the tree with a copper nitrate based solution

    • Hi The 20p charge is for receiving SMS reminders from Paybyphone. You can turn this feature off and the parking will actually be free.  Paybyphone is awfully slow at processing payments and if you close the app/lock your phone before it’s done doing that (while still on the buffering wheel logo), the payment won’t go through and parking won’t be registered. Sometimes it takes 2-3minutes for the payment to go through. If you follow my advice above and get actually free parking, there is no payment processing and you get instant confirmation.
    • Only TW can assess, manage, arrange and oversee the repairs. But it's madness that all that water is going to waste, even more so when bills have increased by 40% and TW themselves are encouraging people to be careful with water usage. Show's in reality how little they really care.
    • We used Lukasz recently and I would definitively recommend. He’s polite, efficient and his work is top notch.  We found him through this site. We’ll absolutely use him again.
    • Had Tom over today to replace some sockets and other electrical work I needed doing in the house, definitely recommend. Really efficient, well priced, very tidy and neat work.
