A recession perhaps? cash in quickly while enough people prepared to still take a chance.

if that is the case - which of ED's businesses will be most vulnerable to a recession?

High end baby clothes? Smart cooking equipment? Or are the many eateries at risk?

Sorry Nero, but I have to stand up for that parade of shops. The 'Supermarket' is run by a decent bloke who sells just about everything you would ever need. The picture framing shop has also proved very helpful to us with advice and decent service, and I think the Peruvians who run the dry cleaners are great as well. Kids and parents seem to enjoy the ceramic painting cafe at the end too, so all in all it could be a great deal worse (thinking Forest Hill Road).

I have raised this question before. I think the consensus was that East Dulwich would not have a recession.

Yes I think that the parade on ED Road is safe - it services the immediate needs of the immediate population and they do that well, Altima Court has 70+ flats just opposite (including mine) and that should help keep things going.

The Green just had a bad rep and restaurants with a bad rep will not survive in ED.

Karter has given us an insight into the specific issues with the cafe. Perhaps a new owner will bring back its success?

    • It didn't occur to me to ask. No idea if dieticians are employed within the NHS. It is just one line of enquiry among others. The GP mentioned it, not me.
    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
