As well as annoying phonespeak, what compacts it is when people have their phone on loudspeaker and hold the phone just in front of their face so everyone can hear the ducking hold music or conversation.

It seems to be a habit inherited from shows like the apprentice where they do it so the cameras can hear both sides of the call. The average Joe walking down the street doesn't need to do it...

When Sky did it to me she kept popping back to see if I was OK - I felt she was worried for me.

People who, at the end of a call, rather than simply saying, 'Bye", then hanging up they

actually say, "bye, bye, bye..bye....bye.........bye.......bye....bye..bye..bye......bye..".

I find that nowadays, after the first couple of "Byes", I just hang-up because I'm not reciting 13x byes in reply for the sake of politeness. It's like Borat has got hold of their phone !

And whilst your finger reaches for the screen they say something that sounds ir might be important. Too late

Ha ha !!

Possible, but unlikely, if relevant enough they can text.

    • Walking around, it looks to me as if weedkiller has been used, as some weeds have been left in situ but are dead. However, most of the weeds which have been (apparently)  killed in this way are hardly likely to lift pavements, being things like Shepherd's Purse. They might seed around, but I'm not sure what harm that does. I would like to know exactly what is the remit of the council workers who are tasked with dealing with weeds in pavements (and in tree pits?). Things like dandelions which have taproots (but are hard to remove in one piece)  have been left in the pavement,  whereas things like Toadflax (which don't, and are easy to just pull out) have been removed.
    • Yet another recommendation for Casper the  handyman.   He recently completed some odd jobs around our house including installing curtain rails and hanging pictures.  He offered practical solutions to the issues that arose, was efficient and communicative.  Very reasonable rates. We’ll be using his services again and have recommended to family & friends.
