Any recommendations for virtual kids parties?
Peachpie replied to Oxalis's topic in The Family Room Discussion
https://peteheat.co.uk/ My kids were blown away by this magician. Suitable for adults and kids alike. I'd say 10+. -

According to my delivery driver -'apparently a bus was on fire'. Seems to have gone quiet now. -

catchment distance to local secondary schools
Peachpie replied to edbloke's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Some sort of guidance would be helpful as I am not sure how you are supposed to gauge if a school is a viable option. Lewisham has this page https://lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/education/schools/school-admission/applying-to-start-secondary-school/school-admission-distance-map -
Kamath, I emailed Kingsdale re. banding test and they said if you fill in the application form by 31st October you will be sent a banding test date for November/beginning December. It is a lottery system rather than distance.

Thank you Renata.

Where do you get the information for distances of last place offered in Southwark and Lewisham? I don't seem to be able to easily find it. Thanks

Wrong time of year. But at the end of winter launder, thoroughly dry and vacuum pack all wool clothing/items, particularly special clothes so they can't be used to lay eggs on. We replaced wool carpets with synthetic ones too. But now slightly regret that due them potentially going to landfil at end of life but non-wool flooring also cuts down egg laying places.

Advice on breaking thumb sucking habit?
Peachpie replied to UlStED's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My children used dummys. I wonder if there is any mileage in weaning onto a dummy first? I don't have direct experience. Two of my sisters sucked thumb/finger and both decided to stop themselves, one around 6 and the other as a teenager! -
I had number 2 in a birthing pool. Which I would definitely recommend, but it was one that fills up in 7mins (birthing centre St Mary's). Which was necessary as it was all over in about 45 mins!

Quasar elite Bromley was the easiest party I have ever had.

Pick up a ukulele and start to learn the basics yourself... You might discover your inner musician and even if you don't, it's good fun and something to bond over. My children didn't really get down to learning an instrument to 6,7 or 8. But they had a good few years with the instruments around for fun so the could get a feel for it all. They are pretty good now, thanks to music teachers, we are not musical. But trying to learn a few bits myself definitely helped the process. They are better than me now so they like to teach me, which is good too.

A huge under the bed drawer with lots of small open boxes inside for organising but any organising doesn't seem to last long!

Incredible. We had such an amazing time. The setting was gorgeous with the views. The way they set the fireworks to music was beautifully done. The Heart sponsored music actually worked very well, though not generally my cup of tea. A family ticket was ?32 and there were two full displays. We got there early and it was very quiet. Food and drink, though delicious was expensive, as expected. Queues for everything between the displays were too long to even consider joining, though we did manage to get a couple more pints. It felt safe, well organised, top event and fantastic fun. We managed to get two buses home without too much trouble too. Will definitely consider next year, great night.
