Is there something you need to tell us Kid ?

Backs away slowly hiding matches and lighters ....

It?s only just started happening since lockdown.. I don?t mind if someone is desperate enough to need 1 pint but taking them both is not nice. If I couldn?t have my breakfast tea I would camp out to catch them 😂

We've had things delivered by our milkman stolen by foxes - bread, margarine etc - until I hung up a bag in the porch so they couldn't reach them.

We also have a cool box - with a well fitting lid - for the milk bottles. This is safe enough on the doorstep, against foxes.

But in your case it seems unlikely that it was foxes - I doubt even the cleverest fox could steal two glass bottles of milk, without breaking and spilling them! So it does sound like humans :-(

All I need to tell you is allotment sheds and other things are nowadays perfectly safe when I'm around !

I know. Those days were simple. I want to order more for tomorrow but don?t see the point if someone steals it.

"Penguin68 Milk & More deliveries have changed, I had an email. Monday's changed to Tuesday , Wednesday's to Thursday and Friday's to Saturday."

Ah, that makes sense then, not that I got any notification - but that may be because I'm not an internet customer of their's. Thanks

1-2am seems to be the norm since lockdown where I am. I know when he's here as I can hear him speeding with the milk crashing in the crates as they go over the speed humps!

Wow ours has a electric truck. Old fashioned milkman 😀

A lot earlier than that. Milk float was the term used. There's a Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_float and plenty of photos around, though I can't find one of the pedestrian controlled ones with, iirc, a control and steering arm on the front.

Do the current deliveries come in bottles or cartons? In the video clip above it looks to me more like a carton that the fox is removing. I wonder if they could cope with a glass bottle.

I live in Dunstans Road and had this problem a couple of years ago. I asked the milkman to leave the milk out of sight on not on the doorstep. No more milk was taken.

I also have had my milk delivered to the wrong house recently. Luckily the owner knew I got milk delivered and knocked on my door with the bottle!

    • Just a quick post to say that my restaurant reviews column is now one year old. There are 45 reviews here* - mostly of local places (some sadly now defunct, others thriving). There are a couple of recipes from a period when I couldn't afford to eat out, a couple of moans about my health when I couldn't eat out on doctor's orders and a couple of reviews beyond our manor. But the main thing is that it is a free, useful guide to local dining and, I hope, an entertaining read. You can, of course, pay to subscribe or follow for free to get the reviews directly into your inbox as I don't want to spam EDF with every review (doctor says I'm not allowed spam anyway). The pictures below come from my two most popular reviews - Persepolis (new SE22 spin-off opening soon) and Norbert's, a great addition to East Dulwich. Please have a read and please consider subscribing. Did I mention you can subscribe for free?   https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/  *It would have been 46 but one review didn't run because the meal was so disappointing. I try not to be negative. To paraphrase Boyzone (or is it Westlife?) I said it best by saying nothing at all.
    • I'd like to recommend Andy - came out very last minute to help us with a rental property that was having plumbing issues. We couldn't source the problem but Andy was able to find it / fix it easily & took the stress out of the problem. We have booked him again to put in a new bath for us now too as we were so happy with this work.    Lovely fella - thoroughly recommend using! Andy's number is 07983 688 451
