Blood pressure readings

Anybody know where we can get blood pressure readings at the moment? GP saying I need one for a repeat prescription request, but they are not able to do one for me and I can't find a pharmacy that is currently offering the service...

If you don't have any luck finding somewhere on here, you can buy yourself a blood pressure reader for around ?12-15 - most chemists sell them.

I know it's not ideal, but it's a solution if you can't get an appointment.

Why won't your GP surgery do one? If you need a repeat prescription then your GP has a duty to provide what you need for that. General healthcare has not stopped. So I would question that.

GP's are being asked not to do blood pressure readings if at all possible but to encourage people to do their own. Both because of the need for people to come into the surgery and the problem of cleaning the cuff

My GP surgery is sending me to the Tessa Jowell centre to have my BP taken, along with a few other checks. Weird.

Where people can not do their own readings PP, the GP has a duty to arrange or advise of an alternative. Receptionists should be trained in the advice to offer. This is how local healthcare is supposed to operate. I would go back to the surgery and ask for an alternate arrangement explaining no pharmacy can be found to do it. If they do not provide one. I would make a complaint.

(having previously sent me a text suggesting i do it myself).

Thanks all, GP still not giving me one (but has given me a temporary prescription)and have informed me that Ropharm Chemist on Rye Lane is doing BP readings so I'll give them a go next time!
