  1. Looking for some advice here! Our little one is sleeping, finally, but still gets upset when going to bed or waking up. Has anyone tried one of the star/galaxy projectors you can get for them at night, and does it distract and sooth them enough to send them to sleep? Recommendations are very welcome here, as there are many different options online, from the suspiciously cheap to eye wateringly expensive. Is it a case of you get what you pay for? Advice gratefully received! LL
  2. Thanks Jazzer - just saw that myself! I clearly didn't read the sign on the front when I went there...
  3. The delivery office in Peckham has been closed each time I visited over the past two days, despite supposedly being open 800-1900. Anyone know if there is a reason for that, or have I just been unlucky with my timings? EDIT: Apparently it's only open 0800-1000 (10am that is), so ignore me.
  4. What a lovely end to this thread - enjoy your new home!
  5. 'Grace Lane London' is from round here! She designs and makes beautiful dresses, but I'm unsure if she does alterations too - worth an ask? https://www.instagram.com/gracelanelondon/
  6. Thank you both very much, genuinely grateful for the suggestions!
  7. Morning everyone. I saw a few old threads on this but thought a new one would be useful in case some new ones have cropped up since 2019! Can anyone recommend a cat groomer - Mobile or local? Would I get laughed out of the vets if I asked them to give my cat the once over with some clippers? Has anyone trimmed the fur, nails etc of their own cat and are willing to tell me not to waste my money? I know a cat groomer sounds very boujee, but trust me. I have a long haired cat and 'things' tend to stick post litterbox...
  8. Peter aka 'A Collection Of' is great, even though the name is difficult to find in a google search! https://www.acollectionof.info/ Very much recommended, he's a really nice bloke too.
  9. I like Oddonos so don't want to engage with the main topic. I will however add that I find it a bit distressing that so many shops are providing biodegradable coffee cups etc, but no way to dispose of them. I like the sentiment, but it does seem a bit short sighted that there aren't any public organic waste bins to put them in, so I have to take them home. I have a horrible feeling that even placing them in the normal waste is bad idea due to organic waste producing methane gas etc. No point to my comment really, just sharing one of my middle class anxieties.

Same. Other than when the posts veer into the offensive, the worst part about them is how low effort the various characters are. I'd respect the craft if there was some proper character building stuff, rather than launching straight into lazy, stereotypical/extreme opinions. That said, Steven here is just getting started - welcome Steven, don't cause any trouble and you could give some light relief.
  12. what did we do to get a starring role?
  13. If you don't have any luck finding somewhere on here, you can buy yourself a blood pressure reader for around ?12-15 - most chemists sell them. I know it's not ideal, but it's a solution if you can't get an appointment.
  14. On that note- can anyone that uses the local gyms give us an idea of how full they are? With all the spacing, will we have to queue for machines etc, or are they ghost towns?
  15. Hi all - sorry to be a buzzkill, but if you search for cycle storage on here you'll see a few posts of members who have had their bikes nicked from them at the beginning of lockdown. There was a spate of people breaking them open then cutting through locks. My friend who uses one has also had a few emails about his reminding people that they need to lock them when closing the hatch.... I am likewise desperate to keep my bike somewhere, as I am in a first floor flat with stairs by the front door. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting into! If it helps, I have bought a cover for my bike (memorably named a 'bike bra') that does a good job of keeping my carpets clean! Not perfect, but an option whilst you wait or storage/consider their security.
  16. Thanks all for your responses. I reluctantly accept that the SAS are not practising maneuvers over the Rye Garden nursery, and that it is probably just the boring old police. I hope at least they are scouting over Dawson Hill, so this thread can become a sub plot of the EDF shared universe we have going on at the moment.

I want to believe, KK. I want to believe that it is the special forces that are keeping me awake, not some two bit Arnie Pye...
  18. Hi all Has anyone else noticed that we are getting visits from huge* sounding helicopters at around midnight? They seem to be circling around Peckham Rye, so maybe you true East Dulwichers are spared the noise, but I swear they are a new addition to the small hours, and happening every few days! Any idea what they are doing up there? I know they could be taking patents to hospitals, or perhaps the police are mucking about with new toys... what I really want to know is why they feel like doing it past midnight! *I have no idea what a size they actually are, but I'm a dramatist so in my head I've decided they are those double blade military ones you see in war films
  19. The White Horse in Peckham was serving last weekend too!
  20. On that note - does anyone know why there are so many helicopters going around? I'd swear most nights past 12 there is one hovering about. They can't all be going to the hospital, surely?
  21. This is the Lounge though Foxy, police would never scroll down this far.
  22. We got someone nearby who *started* playing music outside at 2am! I wouldn't want to hurt them, but I didn't really know what else to do other than stare forlornly at my ceiling and hope that my bad vibes would mean they would be overcome with guilt (they weren't). Having to open the window in the heat really does make a noise difference though. In my last place, I used to hear a dawn chorus of different phone alarms going off on summer mornings....

Some of the waiting lists are well over two years long. Not impossible for them to be patiently planning their theft in advance, but certainly not likely. Also, you have to pay for a key (which is posted to your address), pay a years membership in advance and spring for a deposit so it's closer to ?75 they'd have to cough up to do this. I reckon they are just breaking in on a whim, rather than paying. If you're going to angle grind a bike lock, you may as well break into the shed.
  24. I'll use this thread too seeing its more popular than mine - do any of you have a website or some examples of the kind of work you do?
  25. I just asked for something very similar myself. siousxiesue said: South London makers Sorry can't post links for some reason. (https://www.southlondonmakers.co.uk) These guys based in SE15 have a really good eye for inventive use of space
