charmanar
I assume nobody doing trick or treating this year... is anyone going to still decorate their house? I was thinking of taking my son for a ?pumpkin walk? to spot decorations as a safe alternative. KidKruger
I?m sure there will still be some idiots determined to drag their kids around complete strangers? houses after candy. But yeah, best stay in with the kids and decorate the window and have a different take on Halloween for this year. DulwichFox
I always have Loads of Goodies for the kids on Halloween. 60-70 kids came last year. I will not be participating this year. I am concerned about the amount of Sweeties the children accumulate. I suppose it does help boost the value my shares in local Dental Treatment.. Lol :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265496-halloween/#findComment-1456722 Share on other sites
LoulaRose
Perhaps the attached could a viable plan for ED...hopefully people will be sensible and keep their distance, and lots of (Halloween) masks will be worn! charmanar
Oh yes, that?s a lovely idea, thanks 😊Perhaps we could even encourage everyone in ED to swap their usual facemasks for full on Halloween face coverings for the day, it would make it more exciting walking down lordship lane 😉 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265496-halloween/#findComment-1456758 Share on other sites
JohnL
There will be a few who don't care or who don't seem to be able to understand current events affect holidays too .. and a few just trolling. Back in 2001 a few (and separate groups too) dressed up as Osama Bin Laden for Halloween and wondered why there was such a bad reaction. AylwardS
There was a BBC article on Halloween in light of Covid.https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjqw_WL8JrsAhVCDewKHVqZBE0QFjABegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fnews%2Fuk-54180119&usg=AOvVaw21SCcJ8V214tcA19BxRyx6As well as tips for giving treats they had suggestions on alternatives:Five things to do this Halloween1. Organise a Halloween treasure hunt within your own household 2. Host a virtual party with themed games and music3. Watch a scary movie with the family4. Decorate your own house and organise a spooky trail, avoiding face-to-face contact5. Try reverse trick or treating by dropping off pre-packed sweets on neighbours' doorsteps Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/265496-halloween/#findComment-1456856 Share on other sites
sand12
These are great ideas and I think quite sensible this year. Already have the decorations up :) There are some great ideas for Halloween dinner and scavenger hunts out there too. edcam
Stay at home, make a pumpkin lantern and watch a scary film. The whole trick or treat thing is an American import, like Fathers' Day, baby showers and gender reveal parties.
